Position Summary/Objective:The Controller is responsible for managing the Accounting Department, providing information, primarily financial in nature, about all company activities that will assist management, its shareholders and other users in making educated economic decisions about the company's future. Directs and manages company fiscal records in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and current IT trends and regulations, respectively. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities. The Controller will have contact with senior-level management and stake holders which requires strong interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal. Essential Duties &
Responsibilities:Ensure the accurate and timely processing of positive pay transactions.Ensure the monthly and quarterly Bank Compliance activities are performed in a timely and accurate manner.Supports budget and forecasting activities.Collaborates with the other finance department team members to support overall department goals and objectives.Responsible for managing overall daily activities of all accounting, including bookkeeping tasks; all A/P, A/R, daily balances of all accounts, recording deposits, wiring funds, tracking expenses, etc.Researches accounting issues for compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and/or IFRS.Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.Responds to inquiries from leaders and stake holders regarding accounting department process and procedure.Work with the Finance team to ensure a clean and timely yearend audit.Supervise the general ledger group to ensure all financial and accounting task deadlines are met.Assist in development and implementation of new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department.Maintain internal safeguards for revenue receipts, costs, and team and organizational budgets and actual expenditures.Develop and support short- and long-term operational strategies.Provide system and process training to new and existing staff as needed.Handle personnel issues relating to staff conflicts, absenteeism, performance issues, etc.Work with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advise on their progress to enhance the professional development of staff.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Thorough understanding of GAAP and a broad knowledge of accounting systems.Proficiency in the use of spreadsheet and word-processing software.Strong leadership.Accountability.Team player; ability to work across divisions.Experience with sales and marketing budgets, P&L, and forecasting.Excellent analytical skills, with great attention to detail.Strong knowledge and experience with digital acquisition and engagement channels and platforms.Ability to work effectively across functions, with minimal direction (self-starter).Comfortable within a high-paced, competitive environment.Strong business person who thinks about issues from a business perspective; brings strong business & financial acumen to the role and uses this to complement functional depth.Education & Formal Training:
Bachelor Degree with an emphasis in Accounting - required.CPA/CMA - preferred.Experience:
Ten plus years within the Finance/Accounting field - required.Extensive technical accounting expertise.Skilled in interpreting and managing complex accounting topics and principles.Lead internal audits and address technical accounting issues in coordination with the corporate support team.Proven leadership with a focus on fostering a collaborative and positive work culture.Working Conditions:
Normal office hours Monday-Friday.Extended hours may be required depending on the needs of the business.Travel up to 10% of the time based on meetings and events.
