Position Overview

The Executive Director & Actuary, ALM will contribute to a wide range of enterprise-wide initiatives, including ALM, risk return analysis, economic and required capital, earnings volatility, and short-term financial planning. It involves extensive interaction with other RGA departments and offices to manage ALM risk, optimize the global portfolio, and deliver actionable recommendations. This is an opportunity to learn about the risk management framework and develop knowledge of the wide variety of products and markets in the global portfolio.

Responsibilities

Principal duties and responsibilities include:Provide technical expertise with respect to initiatives including ALM optimization, economic and required capital, scenario analysis, earnings volatility, and financial planningParticipate in various global risk and global project committee meetings by bringing actionable information and recommendations to drive decision makingWork to ensure that all company risks, constraints, and dimensions have been modeled in a reasonable, accurate, and repeatable manner and can support risk return tradeoff analyses, risk management policies, and informed decision making.Aid business segments with respect to validating and managing their ALM data, models, and metricsWork to enhance the Company's ALM projection, optimization, and analysis infrastructureDevelop and execute project plans to meet department goalsContribute to special projects as requested by senior managementMaintain regular and predictable attendance and perform other duties as requiredRequirements

Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Math, Finance, Statistics or a related fieldFSA accreditation7+ years of actuarial experience in the life insurance industryTechnical

Advanced ability to investigate, analyze and solve complex problems and issuesAdvanced actuarial technical skills including an ability to develop analytics to detect and explain sources of variation from expectations in terms of key driversAdvanced knowledge of life, health, and annuity productsAdvanced ability to model various insurance products and reinsurance structuresAdvanced knowledge of GAAP, Statutory, and Tax valuation and financial reportingAdvanced PC skills and understanding of actuarial systems - including spreadsheets, databases, and actuarial projection toolsManagement

Advanced project management skills, demonstrating an ability to leverage various resources and tools to reach a common goalAbility to influence large global team to work together in delivering resultsAbility to work well both independently and within a team environmentAbility to simultaneously contribute to multiple projects while meeting deadlinesAdvanced ability to adapt to new methodsAbility to foster a teamwork and customer service focused environmentCommunication

CERA and MAAA accreditationAdvanced experience with Prophet including the Asset Liability Strategy (ALS) LibraryReinsurance experiencePrior experience with and ability to program in Prophet, VBA and SQLReinsurance industry and product knowledgeIn depth understanding of ALM methodologies, economic capital modeling, and local regulatory frameworksFamiliarity with life insurance company financial statementsWhat you can expect from RGA:

Compensation Range:$132,430.00 - $202,455.00 Annual

Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
