The U.S. Consumer Services and Enterprise Digital & Data Technology Team brings together foundational strategic technology capabilities in digital experience engineering (Mobile and Web), AI/ML, marketing technology, enterprise communications, travel and lifestyle, and automation, grounded in our data technology model that prioritizes data governance. It employs a ground-breaking focus with development responsibilities for customer-facing capabilities that deepen and expand digital engagement, as well as core technical capabilities that cut across business lines and customer segments.
How will you make an impact in this role?
The American Express Big Data team is responsible for building and managing state of the art big data platforms, supporting data ingestion and transformation at peta-byte scale.
Role Description/Requirements
Hands-on engineer with expertise in developing complex, large-scale enterprise BigData applications ensuring data quality meeting compliance & governance requirements to meet enterprise grade standards
Expertise in optimizing BigData applications for performance betterment and resource utilization
Expertise in designing and implementing auto-heal pipeline for system issues
Expertise in Java, Springboot
Hands on expertise in GCP, Pub-sub, Composer, Airflow, Big Query
Hands on expertise working with Hybrid eco-system that combines cloud and on-prem infrastructure supporting migration
Hands on working with cross-functional teams to deliver on system design and development for the needed requirements supporting various business units
Experience with high level enterprise strategy and blueprints and convert into system deliverables
Hands on expertise in RDBMS viz Postgres, MySQL
Responsible for technical aspects of software engineering for assigned applications including design, developing prototypes, and coding assignments
Partners with customers and other internal teams and technical product managers to deliver improvements to the platform
Establish and accepts responsibility for engineering practices across teams for example the peer code review, build and release process and the effectiveness of the retrospective.
Experience writing software in Python, Java or similar.
Expertise in pre-processing and cleaning large datasets for training models.
Familiarity with data augmentation techniques to enhance model performance.
Experience in deploying language models in production environments and integrating them into applications, platforms, or services.
Exposure in building Predictive models using machine learning through all phases of development, from design through training, evaluation, validation, and implementation.
Review architecture and provide technical guidance for engineers.
Hands on experience with Big Data technologies (Spark, Kafka, Hive, etc.) and have at least 1 Big data implementation on platforms like Cornerstone,
Exposure in building cloud-native platforms on modern tech stack: AWS, Java, Spring Framework, RESTful API, and container-based application.
Ability to learn new tools and paradigms in data engineering and science.
Proven experience attracting, hiring, retaining, and leading top engineering talent.
Bachelor's degree with a preference for Computer Science
