Engineers provide onsite engineering and technical support, quality control, construction management assistance, land surveys, and help maintain a safe working environment. Heavy civil construction or marine construction experience is preferred. Travel may be extensive.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Additional duties may be assigned.
Development of project work element plans and JSAsCoordinate project definable features of work with Manson superintendents, foremen, craft workers, and subcontractorsComputer Aided Drafting for analysis of lift equipment capabilities and depiction of work method sequencingCritical path scheduling and 3 week look ahead schedulingReview designs, drawings, and engineering data prepared by Manson consultants and vendors for conformance with project plans and specifications, and identify associated conflictsInvestigation and research for needed permanent and consumable material items, equipment, and toolsInspection of newly delivered permanent materials for conformance with project requirementsCoordinate project activities with the client’s representatives and other project stakeholdersFalsework DesignMonitor of Manson and its subcontractors’ operationsDaily operations and quality control reportingProject photographic recordsGeneral project supportEnsures compliance with Manson’s Code of Ethics and Standards of Business ConductResponsible for practicing safe work standards and promoting an Incident and Injury Free (IIF) work environment as a condition of employment
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESMay directly supervise engineering interns.
QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform satisfactorily the essential duties and responsibilities noted above. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEBachelor's degree (B.S.) in Engineering (Civil, Coastal, Ocean or Mechanical) or Construction Management, from a four-year college or university and 5 years’ experience required. Marine Construction Industry experience preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSMust have a valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.Successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (FE) and current registration as an Engineer in Training (EIT) preferred.
COMPUTER SKILLSAdvanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) required; experience with scheduling, estimating and project management software - HCSS & Primavera, preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDSPosition is primarily a field position, and will require travel., including visits and monitoring of construction job sites. Employee must be able to wear the personal protective equipment (PPE) required of various construction work environments (hard hats, personal flotation devices, safety glasses, gloves, safety-toed shoes, respirators, etc.). The employee is required to stand, walk, use stairs, ladders, and step stools and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Must be able to navigate stairs, ladders and gangways, board, work on and disembark floating vessels and structures. The noise level is moderate to loud. The employee may be required to sit for extended periods of time.
