Are you the right applicant for this opportunity Find out by reading through the role overview below.This position is responsible for working with our Equipment Engineering group in Manson’s Houma, LA yard in the design of structural steel frameworks, machinery foundations, crane structure, dredge apparatus, pile driving apparatus, crane cabs, deck houses, stairs, catwalks, gangways, scaffolding, horizontal lifelines, guard rails, and fall arrest tie off points. The Equipment Dept. designs and/or checks all lifting apparatus such as spreader bars, lift beams, blocks, links, padeyes, etc., and assists in rigging, heavy lift planning, and design of false work. May also assist in the repair of winches and sizing of drive train components, and organize and support equipment upgrade projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES includes the following, additional duties may be assigned:
Ability to develop a specification for assigned task.Adapts to company drawing procedures, standards and revision controls.Ability to develop a finished CAD drawing suitable for fabrication use.Develops scope of work and project plans for marine construction equipment with support from senior engineering staff.Ability to produce a final set of design calculations showing applicable reasoning and methodology with support from senior engineering staff.Follows and maintainsCompany standards of quality in accordance with Company Quality System requirements.Ensures compliance with Manson's Code of Ethics and Standards of Business Conduct.Responsible for practicing safe work standards and promoting an Incident and Injury Free (IIF) work environment as a condition of employment.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Mechanical or Civil/Structural Engineering, or Naval Architecture required. Marine or industrial equipment experience preferred especially in the following areas:Design, repair, or fabrication in a marine/heavy construction industry.Design, repair, or construction of lifting apparatus such as cranes or below the hook lifting devices, winches and mechanical drive systems such as motors, couplings, shafts, bearings, brakes, etc.Design or repair of barge/vessel structureExperience should include reading and creating shop drawings in 2D AutoCAD, and 3D modeling using Solidworks.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSMust have a valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record.Professional Engineering (PE) license and/or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE), preferred.
COMPUTER SKILLSMS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), Autodesk 2D AutoCAD drafting, and 3D SolidWorks experience required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDSPosition is primarily an office position, performs work at a desk. The employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, use stairs, ladders, and step stools and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Employee must be able to wear the personal protective equipment (PPE) in order to conduct job site visits (hard hats, personal floatation devices, safety glasses, gloves, safety-toed shoes, respirators, etc.), and able to navigate stairs, ladders and gangways, board, work on and disembark floating vessels and structures.
