Assist Production Manager and Engineering team with the making plant wide improvement changes and with future planning decisions. Compile key data points to make informed suggestions and decisions on Process Improvements. Prioritize process improvements, looking to make the improvements that lead to the most impact with least amount of effort. Investigating new refining processes/methods to determine improvements and changes that will result in reduced precious metal inventories, lower operating costs and safer operations. Work with operators and supervisors to create current state value stream maps, performing small engineering changes as well as assisting on large engineering projects.

REQUIREMENTSo Effectively communicate up and down the chain of command as well as externally with various vendors.o Mechanically inclined and be able to explore novel ways of approaching a problem.o Must have the ability to work independently in a laboratory and have fundamental lab skills necessary to conduct research to develop new and improved manufacturing processeso Oversee implementation of new systemso Broad chemical engineering concepts (i.e. Energy and material mass balances) as well as inorganic chemistry and demonstrate the ability to apply those concepts to specific production problems in a technically complex environment.o Hands on working closely with operators in the facility to gain familiarity with the existing processes to enable effective troubleshooting and improvement.o Design and plan the layout of equipment
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESo Conduct research to develop new and improved manufacturing processeso Fundamental understanding of process instrumentation and automation.o Work with EH&S to establish safety procedures for those working with dangerous chemicalso Conduct tests and monitor the performance of processes throughout productiono Troubleshoot problems with manufacturing processes implement changes as neededo Design, develop and implement new and improved processes.o Evaluate processes and equipment to ensure regulatory compliance
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:o Bachelor’s degree in engineering, chemical or mechanical preferredo Three to five years’ experience in a production or research environmento Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project)o Project management experience a plus
