JOB SUMMARYReporting to the Director of Institutional Giving, the Associate Director of Institutional Giving will join an active Development Department responsible for meeting and exceeding $27 million in contributed operating revenue from all sources. In collaboration with the Director and the Institutional Giving Manager, the Associate Director of Institutional Giving will help to manage the processes for securing essential support from corporate, foundation, and government sources to fund a robust exhibition calendar, expansive education programs that serve New York City's public school students and teachers, research and public programming of the Center for Women's History, and a range of other Museum and Library initiatives. The Associate Director of Institutional Giving will also oversee the corporate membership program, managing the renewal process and stewardship of benefits; pursue local, state, and federal funding, including City and State applications; develop and manage a portfolio of foundation grants; and support the Department in efforts to raise new funds for general operating, capital, restricted, and endowment programs.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIESManage a portfolio of current and prospective foundation and corporate supporters, and liaise with other government grant making entities, as needed;Manage the corporate membership program, including the renewal calendar and facilitation of benefits, including communication with and activities of the Women's History Corporate Council and Frederick Douglass Corporate Council;Under the guidance of the Director of Institutional Giving, assist with the organization's government relations efforts, liaising with its lobbyists, creating reports and support materials, and maintaining relationships with relevant elected officials and their staff;In coordination with the Development Operations Manager, maintain quality of database information and keep records current;Maintain all government registrations at the city, state, and federal level;Participate in the research, identification, and development of outreach strategies for new institutional sources of funding for general operations, exhibitions, educational programs, museum and library initiatives, and capital projects;Manage the department-wide crediting process to facilitate funder recognition across collateral pieces including museum signage, printed materials, website, emails, etc., in collaboration with other teams;Participate in cultivating and stewarding relationships with institutional funders at a broad range of special events, fundraising galas, exhibition opening receptions, and intimate donor cultivation events, among others;Additional responsibilities and duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor's degree; 5-7 years related development experience;A creative thinker and problem-solver who works well independently and with teams and can represent the department well with both internal and external stakeholders;Demonstrated success in crafting strong funding proposals and grant reports;Superior editing and proofreading skills; detail oriented with a commitment to accuracy;Highly organized and able to prioritize multiple long-term assignments while managing tasks of immediate need in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment;Sincere interest in the humanities and the arts;Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, fundraising database navigation, and fundraising research tools;Ability to work some evening and weekend events.

This is largely a sedentary role using a computer; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stoop as necessary.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITSThe expected salary range for this position is $90,000-$100,000. The successful candidate will be offered a salary within this range based on specific factors such as their individual qualifications, experience, and internal equity considerations.
