JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Summary:The Junior Accountant in the
Payroll Garnishment Department
is responsible for assisting with the accurate and timely processing of garnishment payments. This role involves maintaining detailed records, resolving discrepancies, and providing support to the payroll team to ensure smooth operations related to employee garnishments.
Key Responsibilities:Process payments for wage garnishments, child support orders, tax levies, and other court-mandated deductions.Maintain detailed and accurate records of garnishment orders, payments, and correspondence.Provide clear and professional responses to garnishment-related questions from internal and external stakeholders.Research/re-issue returned checksResolve unreconciled balance sheet transactionsAssist in special projects or tasks as assigned by senior team members or management.
Qualifications:Education: Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
Experience:Entry-level position: prior experience in payroll or accounting is a plus.Familiarity with payroll systems and garnishment processes is advantageous.
Skills:Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Working Conditions:Office-based role Mon-FriMay require occasional extended hours during payroll cycles or year-end processing.
