Amentum is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Director of Strategic Finance to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic financial guidance and support in a range of areas, including capital structure modeling and analysis, liquidity planning, equity planning and forecasting, long-range planning and forecasting tied to the strategic model, M&A (Mergers & Acquisitions) support, investor relations forward guidance, earnings call support, and executive compensation modeling and analysis. The Director of Strategic Finance will play a critical role in shaping and executing our company's financial strategies to drive growth and maximize shareholder value.
This is a hybrid role, located near the Dulles View – Herndon, VA area. Work on-site and work remote-telework. This position requires US citizenship.
Planning and Forecasting:
Develop and maintain financial models to analyze the company's capital structure options,
Conduct detailed analysis to evaluate the impact of various capital allocation strategies,
Assess the company's risk exposure and recommend adjustments to the capital structure to optimize efficiency,
Work closely with Treasury to assist in forecasting company's liquidity needs on a short-term and long-term basis,
Develop comprehensive equity planning models to forecast capital needs and evaluate potential equity financing options,
Develop and maintain financial models to support long-range planning initiatives,
Develop and maintain executive compensation models that align with the company's objectives,
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align financial forecasting with the strategic objectives of the company and assess the impact of issuing new equity on shareholder value and ownership structure,
Develop accurate financial forecasts that enable effective decision-making.
Strategy and Corporate Development Support:
Oversee preparation of financial models for strategic and operational decisions related to acquisitions, divestitures, new locations, capital expenditures, or sales of assets,
Assist with post-merger integration and financial integration strategies as well as separations,
Lead special projects as it relates to strategic planning and other financial initiatives
Investor Relations Forward Guidance and Earnings Call Support:
Work closely with the Investor Relations team to:
Prepare investor communication materials related to quarterly financial results,
Contribute to planning and implementation of a comprehensive Investor Relations and shareholder engagement plan,
Review external financial disclosure documents and provide guidance on financial expectations, performance, and outlook to investors and analysts,
Build and maintain internal models and presentations for executive management, in connection with quarterly earnings meetings,
Engage in an informed manner with the investor community during roadshows, quarterly earnings cycle, investor days, etc.
Critical Success Factors:
Experience supporting and/or managing the coordination and execution of Annual Operating Plan and Strategic Planning, monthly forecasting and analysis of adjusted EPS and cash flow, incentive compensation payout process, and the annual target setting process,
Solid understanding of financial and capital markets
Strong strategic, analytical, and quantitative skills, with the ability to develop and interpret complex financial models
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting
Ability to work in a dynamic environment, prioritizing tasks to meet client demands and changing market conditions,
Ability to analyze complex issues, diagnose multi-dimensional problems and make appropriate recommendations.
Strong track-record of engaging with senior executives, board members and the investor community, etc.
Education and Experience:
15+ years of progressive experience in strategic finance roles, demonstrating expertise in areas such as capital structure modeling, forecasting, investor relations, and executive compensation, with a bachelor’s degree; 12 years of above experience with an advanced degree or CFA designation
Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or accounting
US Citizenship is required
Preferred:
Professional designation, CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) or MBA (Master of Business Administration) preferred
Knowledge and Skills:
Understanding of the financial planning and analysis process and system/tools
Understanding of disclosure management and market information (definitions, size, share, growth) with input from key external drivers to validate appropriate market and economic drivers
Understand macroeconomic and econometric information, metrics, indices, driver-based models
Understand industry dynamics of company and business units
Ability to work collaboratively with other Corporate and Finance organizations, BU (Business Units)
Ability to deal with ambiguity and drive multi-functional outcomes
