Financial Accounting and Reporting
Take the next step in your career now, scroll down to read the full role description and make your application.• Work with the outsourced accounting vendor to provide training, support, and oversee their work.• Develop and maintain timely and accurate financial statements and reports that are appropriate for the users and in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)• Develop, implement, and ensure compliance with internal financial and accounting policies and procedures• Prepare all supporting information for the annual audit and liaise with the Board's Finance Committee and the external auditors as necessary• Document and maintain complete and accurate supporting information for all financial transactions• Develop and maintain financial accounting systems for cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control, and petty cash• Oversee and lead annual budgeting and planning process in conjunction with the President & CEO; administer and review all financial plans and budgets; monitor progress and changes and keep senior leadership team abreast of the organization’s financial status.• Manage organizational cash flow and forecasting.• Reconcile company credit card expenses with statements.• Reconcile bank and investment accounts• Review monthly results and implement monthly variance reporting• Manage the cash flow and prepare cash flow forecasts in accordance with policy• Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure that personnel and financial information is secure and stored in compliance with current legislation• Manage the acquisition of capital assets and ensure that assets are properly recorded, amortized, and disposed of as appropriate• Liaise with the Treasurer and Finance Committee.• Assist the President & CEO and the Board Treasurer with financial reporting as required at Board meetings.• Establish guidelines for budget and forecast preparation, and prepare the annual budget in consultation with the President & CEO and Board Treasurer.• Ensure that accurate and timely financial statements are prepared in accordance with contract agreements with funders• Provide accurate and timely reporting on the financial activity of individual projectsHuman Resources, Technology and Administration• Oversee and supervise the administrative function and the two administrative staff members• Oversee and supervise the work of an IT contract company who provides IT support services to our staff and key volunteers.• Oversee and collaborate with our PEO on HR services, benefits, payroll and other HR related functions.• Coordinates with the PEO process payroll, manage employee benefits and insurance.• Further develop Soldiers’ Angels human resources and administration, enhancing professional development, compensation and benefits, performance evaluation, training and recruiting.• Establish and manage a comprehensive new hire orientation program to educate employees regarding staff tools, policies and procedures.• Advise the organization's leadership on appropriate insurance coverage for the organization.• Oversee the management of all leases, contracts and other financial commitments• Oversee the Office Manager who handles vendor contracts, building maintenance, and utilities.
Qualifications• Minimum of a B.A., ideally with an MBA/CPA or related degree• A track record in nonprofit accounting is required.• At least 7-10 years of overall professional experience; including 6+ years of financial accounting experience in a nonprofit.• The ideal candidate has experience of final responsibility for the quality and content of all financial data, reporting and audit coordination for either a division or significant program area, and has preferably overseen a human resources function previously• Technology savvy with experience selecting and overseeing software installations and managing relationships with software vendors; knowledge of accounting and reporting software• Commitment to training programs that maximize individual and organization goals across the organization including best practices in human resources activities• A successful track record in setting priorities; keen analytic, organization and problem solving skills which support and enable sound decision making• Excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to prioritize, negotiate, and work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders• A multi-tasker with the ability to wear many hats in a fast-paced environment• Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and dedication to the mission of Soldiers’ Angels
