Job Description
The Quality Inspector is responsible for reviewing products and materials during manufacturing to make sure they meet company requirements. Their duties include measuring objects compared to their intended physical specifications, running quality tests, and identifying defects. Provide inspection results to engineering relative to the form and fit of manufactured product to Engineering Design. Proper management of the gage calibration system for the shop tools and gages
Essential Functions Performed by the PositionCommit to work under company's core values that include: a "One Team" mindset, open communication, continuous improvement, and a commitment to provide solutions to our customersFamiliar with the use and care of measuring and test equipment - micrometers, calipers, pi tapes, etc.Dimensionally inspect incoming parts as well as parts fabricated and machined in our facilityConduct non-destructive testing such as Visual, Magnetic Particle, Liquid Penetrant, and Ultrasonic testingAll associated documentation and records are to be prepared and filed accordingly upon completion of the associated testingSign-off of relevant Inspection and Test Plans upon completion of each stepWork with Supervision to ensure that all products meet customer requirements before being delivered to the customerPerform dimensional inspection on all productsPerform visual inspection and examination of raw materials, finished parts, and assemblies for surface qualityPerform receiving inspection of parts for functional, dimensional, and surface quality.Monitor and assist with gauge calibration programDocument nonconforming material conditionsPerform audits of processes, personnel, and productsPerform non-destructive testing and evaluate the results to applicable standardsObtain and maintain non-destructive testing personnel qualifications to SNT-TC-1A Level II or higherCertified Welding Inspector (preferable)Maintain supplier history logProvide accurate, legible, and complete documentation of inspection and test resultsAssist manufacturing by training personnel to interpret and evaluate acceptance criteriaPerform source inspections - May require overnight travel (domestic and/or international)Development Responsibilities:
Improving the Quality Culture within the American Hydro TeamSupport production personnel on quality-related issuesUnderstand and support the importance of record-keeping and documentationAuthorities:
Review and approval of Quality data supplied in support of manufacturing efforts both internal and externalKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Experience with ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System requirementsExperience with Intelex or similar Quality Management System SoftwareProven experience in a quality roleConscientious and responsible with a results-driven approachNumeracy and mathematics; Technical skills; Collaboration skills; Analytical skills; AdaptabilityTime management; Critical thinking; Problem solvingEffective communication; Attention to DetailQualifications
Required Education and Experience
High school diploma (or GED) or 3-6 months of related experience and trainingNon-Destructive Testing (VT/MT/PT/UT)Required Experience:
Familiarity with fabrication and machine shop manufacturing
