Oncor (together with its subsidiaries) operates the largest transmission and distribution system in Texas, delivering power to nearly 4 million homes and businesses and operating more than 143,000 miles of transmission and distribution lines in Texas.Position SummaryAs a Technical Specialist II - Relay and SCADA support team within System Protection at Oncor, you're responsible for the development and maintenance of applications, databases, reporting tools, dashboards, analytics and relay testing software, and asset management tools. This position will interact with various stakeholders in System Protection and Transmission Operations.This position is a hybrid role based in our 777 Main St - Fort Worth, TX location.Key Responsibilities:Performs all essential functions and aspects of the job including any other specific jobWork with management, senior team members, and internal partners to identify areas for operational improvement and coordinate the development of processes, applications and reports in response toDevelop and maintain dashboards to monitor and analyze transmission system operations.Proactively monitor project data to identify time, cost or quality issues and report to appropriate internalCommitment to learn new methods, techniques and software to accomplish tasks and fulfill the needs of theDevelop, manage and recommend changes to database design via desktop mainframe and data warehousingImplement continuous process improvement through program evaluation and maintenance of bestDevelop new processes, test functionality in lower environments, implement in production, and provide documentation/training.Work with technology and vendor on database upgrades and troubleshooting.Providing weekly updates on accomplishments, progress, setbacks, etc.Initiate, develop and maintain cross-functional relationships with various internal workSkills:Experience in supporting web-based applications used for the management of distribution capital programKnowledge of MS SQL and Oracle databaseAbility to write new SQL queries and understand existing SQL queries utilizing various DBMS systems including MS Access, and/or MS SQLExperience supporting real-time systems in an operating environment is preferredFunctional knowledge of AgileAbility and willingness to gain fast track experience through training and jobProactive identification of challenges and potential solutions associated with assigned projects andProven commitment to continuous professional education and processAbility to resolve operational opportunities in a timelyDefines and prioritizes assigned project/tasks to complete onSelf-motivated and works with minimal level ofStrong written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills with demonstrated organizationEducation & Experience:High school diploma, GED or equivalent AND 3+ years of related experience along with knowledge of at least one computer language: C++, C#, .Net, VBScript, JScript, ASP, Python, HTML, XML.Will consider applicants with a 2- or 4-years technical degree related to Information Systems, Computer Science or Engineering discipline AND 2+ years of related experience along with knowledge of at least one computer language: C++, C#, .Net, VBScript, JScript, ASP, Python, HTML, XML in lieu of above criteria.Travel:up to 25%.BenefitsAt Oncor, we offer a comprehensive set of benefits, compensation and performance management programs designed specifically to attract, retain, motivate and reward our high-performing workforce.
