Manage the department by directing and supervising the functions and activities, interpreting policies, procedures, standards, and regulations. Responsible for day-to-day activities, scheduling, yearly evaluations, and disciplinary actions.Responsibilities:Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.Plans, organizes, directs, and supervises the activities of employees in the Sterile Processing DepartmentSelects, trains/orients, and assigns department staff, evaluates performance, and makes recommendations for personnel actions.Develops and recommends department operating budgets. Ensures that department operates within budget and takes corrective action when necessary.Ensures department compliance with all current guidelines and directives from TJC, DPH, and OSHA. Maintains memberships on Infection Control Committee and all necessary task forces and sub-committees.Provides a resource for information pertaining to all SPD related needs. Provides input required for appropriate purchasing decisions, for equipment, and instrumentation. Maintains membership on Value Analysis Committee.Coordinates Sterile Processing services with Surgical Services functions, nursing units, and other departments in order to provide services promptly and efficiently. Oversees sterilization, assembly, and storage of medical supplies and equipment. Maintains inventory of supplies and instruments for use in Surgical Services and other nursing units.Required Knowledge and Skills:Education: Associate's degree preferredExperience: 2-3 years of management experienceCertification/Licensure: Certified Registered Central Service TechnicianSoftware/Hardware: computer skills, Excel, MeditechManagerial skillsKnowledgeable about instrument tracking systemsKnowledge and skills regarding steam and gas sterilizationKnowledge and skills regarding sterilization systems, such as washers, disinfectors, V-PRO, Sterrad, and Steris System 1EClear working knowledge of AMMI standardsNecessary knowledge and skills to implement a case cart systemEqual Opportunity Employer/Disabled/Veterans
