is W&D's in-house technology team - a diverse group of energetic and highly skilled technology professionals, all of whom are leading experts in real estate data, data science, and technology.

WDTech Product

works hand-in-hand with the business to translate business outcomes into actionable product strategies, aligning user needs with innovative solutions, via close collaboration with our engineering partners, to ensure W&D maintains a competitive advantage as our technology landscape and target market rapidly evolve.

The Impact You Will Have

As a UI/UX Designer within Walker & Dunlop's WDTech organization, you'll help research and design a suite of digital products. We strive to optimize and enhance both our customer and internal teams' experiences across the commercial real estate investment process, through purpose-built technology.

This role is an integral part of our efforts. Partnering with product designers, product managers, and developers, you will distill complex use cases and requirements into intuitive user interfaces. While supporting the R&D process through rapid iterations and prototyping, you will advocate for the user, ensuring our digital experiences are a pleasure to interact with. Our ideal candidate must be a great systems-level design thinker who craves opportunities to learn and solve challenging Fintech business workflows.

Primary ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with Product Designers as well as other cross-functional partners, in the research and design of enterprise and consumer-grade financial applicationsDepending on the initiative, design may involve early concept mockups, component creation, and/or rapid iteration & prototypingCommunicate design ideas and prototypes to stakeholdersCraft meticulously defined design specs for developmentDesign QA; Partner with developers to ensure designs are efficient to implement while providing redline specs prior to deploymentAssist with enhancement and maintenance of the WDTech design system, ensuring flexibility of its use, but also simplicity in its implementationBuild relationships with business stakeholders and the R&D org, to advocate for the user while balancing the needs and concerns of all involvedPerform other duties as assignedWork hours are generally 8:30 am - 5:30 pm EST Monday through FridayEducation and Experience

5+ years of experience designing financial service applicationsOnline portfolio of UI-focused work samples for web and mobile applications, including 2-3 detailed case studies that document the scope and process of the initiativesBachelor's Degree in a related field or relevant work experienceUI/UX designer interested in developing their more generalized end-to-end product design experience is a plusExperience working with a cross-functional team, partnering with users, product managers, UX designers, developers, and data scientists to deliver business valueExperience working across organizational boundaries to define, manage and prioritize work, with a collaborative and innovative approachKnowledge, Skills and Abilities

Responsive UI DesignProficiency with modern design systemsHighly effective in Figma along with its latest functionalityTruly embrace and enjoy solving complex business challengesCan flexibly balance multiple concurrent tasks/projects/initiativesAbility to propel design initiatives from concept, to wireframes, to approved and finalized design specsComfort with varying levels of ambiguityAbility to navigate design, functional, and technical restrictions/limitationsExcel at presenting work to a stakeholder. Garner feedback and collaborate on alternative solutions with humilityAn understanding of the limitations and capabilities of industry-standard technology such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript; Knowledge of frontend frameworks such as TailwindCSS & VueJS is also desirable, but not requiredAbility to show ownership of your work, take on challenges and acknowledge growth opportunities, and demonstrate patience when learning new processesCourtesy, respect, and thoughtfulness in teaming with colleagues and other stakeholdersThis position has an estimated base salary of $95,000 - $105,000 plus discretionary bonus. An employment offer is based on the applicant's relevant work experience, applicable knowledge, skills, abilities, internal equity, and alignment with market data.
