Overview

Reporting to the System Vice President, Oncology Services, the Senior Director, Oncology Services is responsible for directing and coordinating comprehensive and integrative oncology practices across the Dartmouth Cancer Center (DCC) oncology service line, Dartmouth Health (DH) affiliate members, and community hospitals. Provides direction for the business and financial operations, develops and implements system clinical goals and initiatives as well as uniformed clinical practices across the system oncology service line> Provides leadership, strategic direction, and goal planning for all oncology services.

Works in triad partnership with physician and nursing leadership across the oncology service line to advance strategic initiatives and ensure robust clinical, quality, and safety initiatives are in place.

Responsible for operations, planning and strategic direction at Dartmouth Cancer Center locations in Lebanon, Manchester, and Nashua, NH, and St. Johnsbury, VT. Direct reporting relationship with Administrative Director, Southern VT Medical Center in Bennington, VT. Operational collaboration with cancer center operations at Cheshire Medical Center in Keene, NH.

A key priority is sustaining and advancing a positive organizational climate and employee engagement which promotes a high level of effectiveness within the service line through defined expectations, clear directions, and transparent communication. Convey a high level of integrity and foster the overall spirit of cooperation, trust, and respect in DCC.

Responsibilities

In collaboration with the System Vice President, Oncology Services, Dartmouth Cancer Center (DCC) Director, Medical Oncology and Hematology Section Chiefs, and the DCC Southern Region Medical Director, plans, directs, conducts, and implements clinical operational and business activities of the DCC.Develops programs, goals and objectives consistent with those of DCC and DH overall strategic plans and initiatives.Advance the oncology service line concept and develop financial monitoring systems and reporting for ongoing DCC service line reporting. Report out financial performance at Oncology Service Line meeting.Maintain a high level of interaction with providers and staff throughout DCC and DH; ensure effective communications to promote a positive and collaboration work environment.Develops a collaborative and supportive environment to directly enhance the complex patient care, academic, and research missions of DCC and DH.Serves as primary liaison and support for DCC leadership at system entities and organizes meetings, activities, and projects.Acts as primary liaison between DCC Senior Leadership, D-H Strategic Planning Office, CGP Leadership, and system members' leadership to develop and implement DCC services in the communities of NH & VT that will ensure comprehensive treatment options for patients and referring providers.Directs operational and strategic oversight to the DCC campuses of Nashua, Manchester, Lebanon, NH and St. Johnsbury, VT.Primary liaison between DCC Nashua and the Greater Nashua Radiation Center to develop enhanced services at both locations.In conjunction with the D-H Strategy Office, develops outreach plans and negotiates oncology outreach contracts and services with CEOs of multiple community hospitals in NH and VT.Works with DHH and DCC Leadership to develop strategies that measure and enhance the productivity and financial performance of clinical servicesEnsures and coordinates the preparation of the annual capital and operating budget with DCC leadership. Develops strategies to improve revenue and decrease costsSupports the development and evaluation of oncology service line policies and procedures, and assures all DCC campuses are similarly engaged in the process.Fosters new oncology interdisciplinary initiatives designed to engage multiple disciplines throughout DH-HPerforms other duties as required or assigned

Qualifications

MBA, MS in Healthcare Leadership/Healthcare Management or other advanced degree.15 years of health care system experience or the equivalent required with five (5) years of experience in oncology.Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimum supervision, and possess the ability to set priorities and make critical decisions.Managerial effectiveness, problem solving, and change management abilities desired.Effective interpersonal skills with demonstrated capacity to maintain positive and effective relationships, influence, and motivate people at all levels of the internal organization as well as external business associates.Effective oral and written communication skills.Ability to travel up to 50% of time. Most travel is within service line and regionally.Required Licensure/Certifications
