Job DescriptionReview and approve new incoming projects to ensure material meets acceptable criteria and maintains the records in accordance with the permit requirementsInterface with Customer Service and facility operations for inbound scheduling and any scale-related customer issuesInterface with outbound transporter and facility operations for any scale-related issues (e.g. manifests, weighing issues, etc)Review testing procedures, analysis, site history and waste description for contaminated soil that is being considered for acceptance at the facility.Assist in approval of new and ongoing projects to ensure material meets acceptance criteria and maintain the records in accordance with the permit requirements.Direct/perform sampling of both incoming material and processed batches of outgoing material, including chain of custody and purchase order preparation, to ensure compliance with permit sampling frequency.Determine treatment and outbound reuse options consistent with outbound facility requirements, submit approval packages to outbound facilities and provide certificates to clients as needed.Responsible for reviewing facility permits to ensure and verify compliance with permit conditions.
Perform routine inspections, sampling, and reporting as required by permits and local, state, and federal regulations.Maintain records according to permit requirements.
Prepare, review and submit quarterly and annual reports to regulatory agencies and maintain and review all permit required monitoring and data. Assure that all records are in compliance.Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and apparatus and prepare solution and sample formulationsProvide hand-on training to lab technician on testing methods and general lab SOPs.Review and approve testing results.Monitor proficiency testing and internal quality controls trends and communicate to management.Job Folder preparation and filing, evaluation of inbound job files for completeness and acceptability in accordance with permit requirements, approve jobs in CORE, submit project approval packages to regulatory agencies, respond to questions about approval packages, and prepare Onbase Manifests.Prepare solutions and standards and prepare and run samplesRecord data and report results (Internal files and spreadsheets for NJDEP)Monitor lab production, accuracy and completeness, including safety checks in labMaintain Core job approvals and approved tonnagePerform other reasonably related tasks as assigned by managementQualifications
Basic Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, or Environmental Science field.Preferred Qualifications:
2+ years of experience in analytical laboratory operations.Knowledge of NJDEP and PADEP soil remediation standardsThe ability to travel to other sites within region on occasion.Possess excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.The ability to use (or learn to use) computer software for logins, program specs, invoicing, and other required tasks.The ability to work independently, work under pressure, and manage several projects simultaneously.Willingness and ability to wear company provided personal protection equipment including eye protection, steel toed shoes, and hard hatWillingness to work in a dirty, dusty work environmentAble to communicate clearly with staff, management, and clients.The ability to read and interpret reports.The ability to operate laboratory equipment.Must be able to lift and carry weight of up to 30 lbs.The ability to deal politely and professionally with customers and/or coworkersPhysical and Mental Demands:
Ability to deal politely and professionally with customers and/or coworkersAbility to sit and/or stand for 100% of an 8-hour dayDexterity in hands and fingers to operate computer and other equipment and conduct field samplingAbility to read reports and job-related documentsMust be dependable and conscientiousAbility to pay close attention to detailAbility to follow direction or instruction
