SCOPE:The Purchasing Manager is responsible for the company's sourcing of products and services essential for our operations. This position requires a strategic thinker with strong negotiation skills and a deep understanding of supply chain management.
EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's degree and at least five (5) years sourcing/supply chain experience.SPECIAL SKILLS:
Ability to manage projects and establish clear goals and accountabilities to ensure successful delivery (on time, within budget, meeting agreed upon success criteria).Ability to handle multiple tasks and work under deadlines.Strong negotiation skillsGood communication skillsExperience using MRP/ERP systems and working knowledge of MS Office, with advanced Excel knowledge.RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for managing the sourcing department and achieving company goals concerning material cost, supplier performance, and outsourcing of non-critical components.Monitor market trends and identify potential risks and opportunities in the supply chain.Manage and mentor buyers to ensure efficient processes and encourage professional growth & development.Collaborate with other departments, including production, finance, engineering, and sales, to ensure alignment of procurement activities with company goals.Maintain a system to evaluate new vendors and rate existing vendors.Negotiate with suppliers to attain the best value for the company and develop sustainable relationships with suppliers.Develop procedures for receipt of purchase items that reconciles what was received against what was ordered and approval of supplier invoices.Establish purchasing policies to meet inventory targets while meeting production demands.Maintain and develop supplier relationships (trade shows, supplier meetings, conferences, etc.)Participate in lean events and continuously improve the efficiency of processes throughout the organization.Use sales forecasts, demand, and historical data to place, cancel, expedite and delay orders in a timely fashion based on vendor lead time while controlling inventory at budgeted levels.Work with suppliers to reduce lead times using vendor stocking or other programs to reduce overall inventory level by annual goals.Participate in the management of E&O inventory.Work with suppliers to correct recurring defects through the Supplier Corrective Action procedure.Oversee staffing/recruiting/training/coaching direct reports including performance reviews.
