Position will remain open. Inactive applications will be purged periodically.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Operates a van (or similar vehicle) to provide safe transportation for students to and from schools and other activities.Drives van along designated routes. Picks up and drops off students as scheduled.Ensures that the vehicle can be operated safely before driving and conducts pre-trip safety inspection to include observing visual defects and checking operating systems to include brakes, horn, lights, emergency flashers, etc.Performs post-trip inspections of the vehicle. Ensures that all passengers have been dropped off and that no personal belongings have been left behind. Cleans vehicle as needed.Supervises conduct/behavior of student passengers to maintain discipline. Contacts school officials, as necessary, to discuss concerns regarding student conduct.Ensures vehicle is available for all scheduled maintenance and inspections.Reports any accidents immediately and completes necessary paperwork.Heavy lifting up to 50 pounds may be required in lifting and/or carrying students in the case of an emergency.Maintains a Virginia driver's license and maintains Red Cross first aid / CPR certification.Obeys all traffic laws and transportation practices as outlined in the Transportation Employee Handbook, School Board Policy, and local ordinances.Performs bus attendant job duties as necessary.Other related duties as required.JOB REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.Virginia Driver's LicenseSuccessful completion of auxiliary driver and bus attendant training course (training provided)Excellent driving record (at least +3 driving points)Minimum age of 21 at time of employmentAmerican Red Cross first aid and CPR course or an approved equivalent within the first three months of employment and successfully renew certification as requiredAPPLICATION REQUIREMENTS:
