Overview
Cypress Creek Renewables (CCR) is seeking a talented and highly motivated individual to work as part of our Policy & Permitting Team covering Texas and the Southwest U.S., with potential to expand to other states based on business needs, to help accelerate the progress of our infrastructure development by driving new legislative and regulatory policies, expanding relationships with key stakeholders, developing strategies that increase or stabilize our ability to sell our product and reach customers, supporting our efforts to work with local community, and defending against regressive changes.
Specifically, this person should have a strong energy background, and experience with policy development, regulatory/legislative analysis, drafting, political strategy, and coalition building work. They should also have experience planning, building, and executing successful political, legislative, and/or regulatory campaigns at the state level.
ResponsibilitiesMonitoring, assessing, and leading the development and implementation of state legislative and regulatory policy strategies that support CCR's business objectives, including securing and stabilizing offtake revenue, a favorable tax/regulatory environment and permitting and siting regulations for our pipeline of proposed projects, as well as defense of retroactive legislative and/or regulatory policy that would impact our development pipeline and/or operational fleet.Identifying, establishing, and managing strategic relationships with state officials resulting in meaningful partnerships focused on solar and storage infrastructure operational support and development.Informing/educating appropriate internal departments on policies at the state level that may have an impact to CCR, working closely with internal business units, including Project Development, Power Marketing, Fleet, M&A, Project Finance, Legal, and other Policy team colleagues.Engaging with trade associations, as well as building and leading coalitions using 3rd party analysis and communications strategies, to have influence and advocate for CCR and its business objectives.Managing lobbyists and other external consultants to influence outcomes towards Cypress Creek Renewables' favor, ensuring that Cypress Creek Renewables is well represented on important and impactful issues with these legislative and regulatory bodies.Supporting local permitting decisions in favor of CCR's projects.Education & Experience Required
BA/BS degree required; Advanced degree ideal5+ years of experience in energy policy5+ years of state regulatory and/or legislative experience with a clear track record of success executing on policy campaignsExperience managing and working collaboratively with lobbyists, trade associations, other businesses, and consultantsProven ability to build and maintain productive external partnerships, including ones with trade associations, other companies, and lawmakersDirect experience in project development; experience with a utility, and/or government agency is idealExceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skillsExcellent research and analytical skills, and the ability to synthesize and effectively communicate the results into conclusions and recommendationsSelf-motivated and driven with a high level of initiativeOrganized, detail-oriented, and diligentAble to thrive in a fast-paced business environment, and manage multiple projects with competing deadlinesLocated within Texas / Southwest U.S., proximity to state capital(s) preferredApproximately 30% travelLocations:
