Position Overview
As an Art Director on the creative team at M Booth, you'll be a key senior member who is inspired in the areas of creative thinking and design. Your experience varies and you can dive into all sides of the creative process - from brainstorming concepts to creating polished executions. You're able to balance both independent and collaborative projects, bouncing from bigger picture tasks to your day-to-day to-dos.
There are no creative "lone wolves" on our team. As an Art Director, you look forward to guiding and mentoring the team and fostering a collaborative work environment. You are proactive about not only pushing our creative executions but also improving the way that we work, our processes, and our team as we continue to grow.
Communication is key: Art Directors are the conduit between the strategists, copywriters, project managers, and designers. Art Directors are direct and proactive in speaking up and giving input. You have a proactive mindset in finding ways to help build and improve our team as we continue to grow.
Overall, Art Directors are responsible for the visual execution of projects. You'll lead and guide designers, illustrators, and motion designers, while working closely with clients. We're looking for someone with a personality and experience that will be a great addition to what we currently have and who's also inspired to grow along with us!
Art Director duties:Client
Lead all expressions of creative work for a number of digital and social-first clients, especially those in tech. Know their branding, content, and audience inside and out.Guide content creation from soup to nuts. This might entail brainstorming ideas, fleshing out those concepts and copy with a strategist, presenting the concept to clients, and providing oversight and direction to a team of designers, illustrators, and motion designersBe prepared to be hands-on, when needed, to create. Examples include: deck design, illustrations, layouts, comps, storyboards, etc.Clearly articulate ideas and visual direction to the team and clients. Examples include: writing, moodboards, and/or sketches.Develop visual systems and scalable design guidelines for digital campaigns.Stay informed about social media and industry trends, as well as staying current on digital guidelines and specifications. Maintain a digital library of visual inspiration and digital references

Mentor and guide team members in achieving their professional goalsWork closely with project managers on improving processes, planning scopes, timelines, and resourcingHelp build comradery on your team while fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and creative environmentGuide other teams on creative processes and best practices
What You'll Bring:
You are not a unicorn, you're a creative chimera. You are part design expert, part ideator, part social media maven, part communicator, part fire-breathing goat.You have 6+ years' of relevant work experience, with a strong background in design and conceptual thinking.You have a portfolio with an emphasis in digital creative work. Social + tech experience is another bonus.You are client facing and at home leading presentations.You possess a genuine interest in and knowledge of emerging technologies, disruptive trends, and cultural tentpoles, and how to experiment with them.Have strong verbal and written communication skills that enable you to convey ideas or provide critiques clearly and concisely. You have a kean eye for detail. (Did you catch that 'keen' was misspelled?)You're very familiar with branding systems but they don't define your work. You're always thinking about ways to push the creative.You know your way around Adobe Creative Cloud: (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects) and are able to jump in to help the team out in a pinch. As an Art Director, your main tools of the trade are presentation software (Slides) to communicate concepts and project management software to share feedback.In addition to having a strong design sense, you should have a general knowledge of different types of creative mediums (illustration, animation, photo editing, copywriting, branding, video) and have a secondary skillset in one of those areas.Do you have management and leadership experience? Our Flexible Work Policy:
We believe that our best work happens in a hybrid working environment. If you are in the NYC (or commutable surrounding distance) hub we want to see you in person 2 days a week. That could mean in our office, in our client's office, on the road with them or attending an industry event.
For those outside the NYC hub, you will be asked to be in person too. Examples of this may include client meetings, events or team meetings. There will also be in person opportunities for you to connect with others who live in your hub to collaborate and work together.
