Southside Blooms is looking to add a Farm Operations Manager to its team.
Based on the south side of Chicago, Southside Blooms is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that is a farm-to-vase florist providing unique and fashion-forward arrangements while maintaining an uncompromising dedication to the environment and its surrounding communities. Role
As the Farm Operations Manager at Southside Blooms, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of flower cultivation, production, and distribution on our farm. You will lead a team of at-risk youth and other staff, ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of all farm operations while maintaining a focus on high-quality flower production and sustainable practices.
Your Core Contributions To The Team
Manage all farm operations, including planting, crop maintenance, harvesting, and overseeing ancillary aspects of the farm operation such as seed starting.Develop and implement strategic plans for the flower farm, including production goals, operational procedures, and resource management strategies.Lead and manage a diverse team of farm workers, volunteers, and support staff, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high levels of productivity and adherence to best practices.Develop and execute the farm plan with strong project management skills.Manage hoop house and other seasonal extension growing operations.Ability to transport tools, trailer, corps, etc. using Southside Bloom's vehicle.Develop, improve, and execute all farm-related processes and systems.Oversee the management of farm equipment, machinery, and facilities, ensuring regular maintenance, repair, and upgrades as needed to maximize efficiency and productivity.About You
Knowledge, abilities, and qualifications
Proven experience in farming or agricultural management; experience with flowers a plus but not required.Strong knowledge of horticulture, crop management, and soil health.Excellent organizational and time-management skills.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physical labor, lifting 50 pounds.Task and team-oriented with a positive attitude and strong leadership skills.Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as required.What We Provide You

This is a full-time position, requiring 8 hour shifts that occur Monday through Friday, including evening shifts and/or weekend shifts as needed. Overtime may be required.
