Accountant 4H
position , grade H27,
in the
Fire and EMS Department's Fiscal Affairs Division.
About the Position:This is a high-level accounting professional position that performs complex financial, administrative and supervisory duties for the Fire/EMS Department, with a high degree of independent judgement, action, initiative and analysis. This position is responsible for Budget and Grant Management.
Examples of Work
Defines and develops funding sources to support existing and planned program activities for the Fire/EMS Department as well as lead the development, writing, and submission of grant proposals to federal, state, and private funding agencies.Prepares yearly budgets for the Fire/EMS Department.Responsible for managing the State AMOSS grant for the Fire/EMS Department.Provides leadership, direction, and coordinate duties of the staff responsible for expenditure authorization, revenue tracking, grant expenditure tracking and overall financial reporting.Oversees the authorization and processing of financial transactions including payment requests, credit card purchases, purchase requisitions, and contract encumbrances.Authorizes fiscal requests as the Budget Manager's designee and process for payment.Directs the submission of financial documents into the County SAP accounting system.Oversees grant expenditure tracking and analysis, fixed assets, special projects and other required County expenditure reporting.Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Quantitative Analyses or Business Administration or a related fieldAt least three (3) years of professional accounting experienceAt least one (1) year in the lead/supervisory roleAn equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
