Federal Tax Lobbyist

Role Overview:
New York Life is seeking a proactive and strategic federal lobbyist to advocate for the interests of the company and our clients on legislative and regulatory issues related to product and corporate tax policy. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of tax issues affecting the life insurance industry and our clients, as well as strong relationships on Capitol Hill.
What You’ll Do:
Advocacy and Representation:
Educate and persuade Members of Congress, congressional staff, regulatory agencies and trade associations on tax and long-term care issues. Develop and implement lobbying strategies to influence public policy.
Relationship Building:
Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders on Capitol Hill. Engage with industry associations, colleagues at peer companies, and other advocacy groups to build coalitions around common goals. Build partnerships with internal subject matter experts and business leaders.
Policy Analysis:
Monitor and analyze proposed legislation and regulatory changes impacting the taxation of the life insurance industry and our clients, as well as changes affecting long-term care. Provide strategic insights and recommendations based on emerging issues and trends.
Communication and Reporting:
Communicate complex policy issues clearly and understandably to internal and external stakeholders. Report to internal stakeholders regularly on public policy developments and potential impacts on the company and our clients. Prepare talking points and position papers to communicate the company’s positions with external stakeholders.
Strategic Planning:
Collaborate with internal teams and consultants to develop and refine advocacy strategies and messages that align with the company’s goals. Identify and prioritize key issues that require proactive engagement with policymakers. Participate in strategic planning for New York Life’s PAC and attend political events.
What You’ll Bring: Bachelor's degree Minimum of 7 years of experience on Capitol Hill or government relations. Established relationships with Members of Congress and staff on relevant committees. Understanding of life insurance products and taxation. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to diverse audiences. Proven track record of successful advocacy and influencing policy outcomes. Pay Transparency Salary Range: 200,000-250,000 Overtime eligible: Exempt Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes Sales bonus eligible: No Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors but not limited to individual’s experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
