Job Description
The Financial Reporting Manager will oversee the preparation, review, and distribution of the firm's financial reports, both actual and budgeted, on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. This role involves managing financial activity reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, with an emphasis on key performance metrics and variance analysis. Specific duties include:
Leading the preparation of monthly financial reporting, ensuring accuracy in income statements, balance sheets, and key performance indicators.Managing departmental and practice group financial reporting with a focus on performance metrics.Preparing and reviewing the firm's annual operating and capital expenditure budgets, supporting revenue, expenses, and capital expenditures.Leading the preparation of quarterly forecasts and financial analysis to assess variance from the annual budget.Providing financial analysis and recommendations to management regarding operational performance, budgeting, and financial reporting.Assisting with the preparation of various industry surveys and presentations for the firm's leadership.Overseeing the integration of new budget and reporting software, improving financial processes, and ensuring system-generated financial reports are accurate.Training and managing the Reporting & Budgeting team to ensure timely delivery of financial reports and meeting project deadlines.MPI does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, marital status, or based on an individual's status in any group or class protected by applicable federal, state or local law. The Successful Applicant
The ideal candidate will be an experienced financial reporting professional with a strong background in law firm finance, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. The candidate should have:
A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; an advanced degree is preferred.At least five years of experience in financial reporting and budgeting, with a minimum of three years in a supervisory role, ideally within a law firm or similar professional services environment.Expertise in accounting systems, particularly CMS/Aderant or Elite, and strong proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word. Familiarity with Iridium or similar reporting software is a plus.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex financial data and make informed decisions.Excellent interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with attorneys, clients, and internal teams.A proactive, detail-oriented approach to managing multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.Strong leadership and managerial skills, including the ability to train and develop a team.What's on Offer
