GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEMS (GIS) SPECIALIST

TOWN OF WESTWOOD

The Town of Westwood seeks a GIS Specialist to work as part of a collaborative team to manage and analyze spatial data, create compelling maps and visualizations, and support the development of GIS-based solutions. The position plays a key role in providing geographic insights that drive decision-making and innovation across various projects. This is a hybrid/remote position, offering flexibility and the opportunity to work with a talented group of professionals.

Duties include but are not limited to the following:Collect, process, and analyze spatial data from multiple sources.Create, maintain, and update GIS databases and related workflows.Develop visually compelling maps and spatial visualizations to support projects and presentations.Conduct spatial analysis to address project-specific questions and challenges.Collaborate with various Town departments to integrate GIS solutions into broader initiatives. Provide training for and support GIS and database applications.Troubleshoot GIS-related technical issues and provide recommendations for improvement.Stay updated on emerging GIS technologies and trends to enhance team capabilities.Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Cartography or a GIS-related field (Geography, Engineering, Planning, etc.); thorough knowledge of ESRI's ArcGIS desktop software; minimum of one year of experience in GIS database development and maintenance in a multi-user environment; strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail; and excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote environment. Experience with ESRI's ArcGIS Server, ESRI JavaScript API, and Microsoft SQL Server is desired.
