GIS Analyst Specialist

Job Summary:

The Expert GIS Analyst will be responsible for providing advanced-level geographic information system (GIS) analysis, spatial data management, and geospatial technology solutions. This role involves using GIS tools and techniques to develop, maintain, and update geographic data and maps, providing strategic insights to support decision-making across various departments. The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in GIS software, extensive experience working with spatial data, and the ability to apply complex analytical methods to solve business challenges.

Key Responsibilities:Data Management & Analysis:Collect, organize, manage, and analyze spatial data from various sources (e.g., satellite imagery, surveys, sensors) using advanced GIS software (e.g., ESRI ArcGIS, QGIS).GIS Solutions & Application Development:Design and implement custom GIS applications and tools, automating processes and workflows for data visualization, spatial analysis, and reporting.Map Production & Visualization:Produce high-quality maps, charts, and spatial models to visually represent complex data, making it accessible and actionable for stakeholders.Spatial Analysis:Conduct advanced spatial analyses, including network analysis, geospatial modeling, and predictive analysis, to provide insights into trends, patterns, and relationships.Database Management:Develop, maintain, and optimize geospatial databases and ensure data accuracy, integrity, and accessibility. Establish processes for data standardization, quality assurance, and quality control.Collaboration & Communication:Work closely with project managers, engineers, environmental scientists, and other departments to identify GIS needs, provide geospatial expertise, and support decision-making with data-driven insights.Training & Mentorship:Provide training and technical support to junior GIS analysts and other team members on the effective use of GIS technologies and data.Technical Documentation:Develop and maintain documentation for GIS procedures, workflows, metadata standards, and data-sharing protocols.Required Skills/Abilities:

Advanced GIS Software Proficiency:Expertise in GIS software platforms such as ESRI ArcGIS (Desktop, Pro, Online), QGIS, and other geospatial analysis tools.Spatial Data Analysis Expertise:Strong ability to analyze spatial data using advanced techniques such as interpolation, proximity analysis, spatial regression, and geostatistics.Programming and Automation:Proficiency in GIS scripting languages such as Python (ArcPy), SQL, or other programming languages used to automate tasks and analyze spatial data.Data Visualization:Strong skills in cartography and data visualization, including the ability to create clear, accurate, and aesthetically pleasing maps and spatial reports.Database Management:Experience managing and working with geospatial databases, including knowledge of relational database management systems (RDBMS) and spatial databases (PostGIS, Oracle Spatial).Attention to Detail:Exceptional organizational and analytical skills with a keen eye for detail in spatial data quality, integrity, and accuracy.Communication Skills:Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders clearly and effectively.Problem-Solving:Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to apply spatial solutions to complex business problems.Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geography, Cartography, Computer Science, and/or a related experienceMinimum of 7 years of experience as a GIS Analyst, with demonstrated expertise in advanced geospatial analysis, GIS technology, and cartographic principles.Experience with geospatial data collection, processing, and analysis techniques.Experience with industry-specific GIS applications (e.g., telecommunications, utilities, environmental science) is a plus.Preferred Certifications:

GIS Professional (GISP) certification is highly preferred.ESRI Technical Certifications are a plus.Additional Qualifications:

Experience integrating GIS with enterprise systems such as ERP, CRM, or other business applications.Familiarity with web mapping technologies (e.g., Mapbox, Leaflet, ESRI Web AppBuilder).Benefits:
