Reference #: R15458 The Senior Director, Revenue Accounting will be responsible for managing the Order to Cash cycle and related month-end close process for revenue. This candidate will have frequent interactions with sales, operations, legal, and finance teams and will be instrumental in ensuring an accurate and efficient recording of revenue in addition to serving as a subject matter expert in all aspects of revenue recognition. An ideal candidate will have an extensive US GAAP technical revenue accounting background, exceptional communication skills, and a proven track record of building and managing a team of high-performing individuals. This position will report to the SVP, Chief Accounting Officer. Key Responsibilities include: * Maintain revenue accounting policies in accordance with ASC 606 and related position papers, accounting issues and required financial statement footnote disclosures. This will include position papers on revenue recognition issues such as lease accounting classifications, bill and hold transactions, lease accounting and other complex transactions. * Maintain internal controls and evaluate actions required for compliance with the company's revenue accounting process, including review of the billings process, conformance with in accordance with Sarbanes Oxley (SOX).
Responsible for oversight of revenue related balance sheet accounts such as unbilled receivables and deferred revenue, including the appropropriate presentation of current and long-term portions *Provide expertise on all revenue recognition practices and decisions for accounting, forecasting, sales, product management, legal and customer supportCommunicate and establish relationships with internal teams (Sales, Product Management, Alliances, Legal, Customer Support, IT, Financial Compliance); act as liaison and be the advocate for system improvements, product introductions and/or changes, and other procedures having a revenue or accounting impact; provide and implement suggestions for areas of process improvement to ensure efficiencies amongst all teamsResponsible for managing revenue related support provided to external auditors for annual audits and quarterly reviews and to the internal financial reporting team for revenue related disclosures in annual financial statementsAddress contract-related issues from legal and sales teams with special consideration to billing and revenue recognition implicationsLead process improvement and system implementation projectsPerform other ad hoc responsibilities as necessary You are/have:An independent, self-motivated individual with a positive, service-oriented attitudeSelf-starter with a great work ethic and an analytical thinker with superior problem solving and decision-making skills, possessing the initiative to create presentations and analysis from scratch to answer questions posed and look into the details and interpret the impact of key business driversExtremely detail-oriented and organized with prior experience having gathered, structured, monitored, and validated data to ensure data integrity and detailed documentation; has developed a habit of checking the accuracy of data and analysis several times over before submitting for reviewSignificant expertise in setting up automated processes to increase the effectiveness of the team and minimize room for errorExcellent multi-tasker who is always "on it" with stellar time and project management skills; understands the importance of planning in advance to meet deadlines that include multiple review points and iterationsStrong communicator, both written & verbal; reliable and responsive to email and phone communications; andHighest level of integrity and good judgment, with the ability to effectively deal with highly sensitive, confidential information The duties and responsibilities listed in this job description represent the major responsibilities of the position.
