Garver is seeking a highly motivated
Traffic Design Engineer
in our Overland Park, KS office to add to our growing traffic and transportation planning team. The ideal candidate would have 5-10 years of related experience, a sharp technical background, and a strong passion for the profession. This position will offer the candidate an opportunity to play a key role in designing exciting projects for our DOT and municipal clients across our client footprint. Applicants must have excellent problem-solving skills with a commitment to being a key part of this extremely technical, highly productive design team. This position will be supervised by a Senior Project Manager and offers outstanding growth opportunities and career advancement to the right individual.The ideal candidate will be responsible for the following:Developing intersection improvement plansPreparing traffic signal plansPreparing ITS plansPreparing signing plans and pavement marking plansCoordinating with multi-disciplinary teams and communicating concepts to clientsAdditional duties include:Assisting with project management to identify project scopes, fees, and monitoring project progressPreparing project proposals and giving interviews for project pursuitsPerforming direct client marketing and developing relationships with existing clients within our service areaMentoring less experienced staffRequired Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree from an ABET accredited engineering program5 - 10 years of experience with traffic-specific projectsProficient in MicrostationWell organized with great attention to detailExcellent communication skills with a willingness to lead meetings and presentationsLicensed as a Professional Engineer (PE) or ability to obtain within 6 months of hireWorking knowledge of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and FHWA Sign BookProficient in Microsoft OfficePreferred Qualifications:Experience with OpenRoads, SignCAD, and AutoTurnExperience with fiber optic communication system architectureExperience with developing Systems Engineering and Concept of Operation reportsExperience in marketing and managing local government projectsExperience working with State Departments of Transportation and municipalities within the Garver footprintGrow With UsGarver offers its employees programs such as company-paid professional memberships, company support for industry licenses, and continuing education opportunities that foster a progressive atmosphere.
