Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE:The Senior Platform Engineer role is responsible for designing, building, problem-solving, troubleshooting, and maintaining platforms within the current technology environment. The role involves analyzing complex technical problems, developing appropriate solutions to maintain the overall integrity of the platform, including operating systems, hardware and software infrastructure that are critical to the company's user populace and application environments. They collaborate with other IT professionals such as Application, Architect, and Database Engineers to ensure that all components of the platform are working efficiently, securely, and resiliently. The Senior Platform Engineer uses their extensive knowledge of both traditional and modern platforms to ensure high performance and reliability of the company's infrastructure, including both cloud and on-premises systems, in support of DevOps efforts and general business and IT objectives.Responsibilities

WHAT THE ROLE WILL DO:

Maintain the platform hardware, software, and network requirements in alignment with business needs and organizational standards definedMonitor system performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise to continuously improve platforms in alignment with application goalsManage and configure DevOps tools (such as API Gateway, Teraform) to support processes as per organizational needsCollaborate with DevOps engineering and production team to update, troubleshoot and maintain platforms and environments to bring new features and services into productionIdentify, prioritize, implement and maintain automated and orchestrated fulfillment mechanisms to optimize delivery of key platform servicesCoordinate the tasks of other teams that work within the target platform to ensure smooth operationsIdentify and mitigate security threats to comply with a strict security complianceDevelop and implement security and resiliency policies, standards, and procedures to protect the infrastructure and ensure compliance with regulationsProduce high-level design documentation where requiredConduct technical research regarding user requests for new/modified systems or problem resolutionManage vendor relationships and discussions related to design docs, platform changes, and other modifications, as neededThis position is not eligible for sponsorship for work authorization now or in the future, including conversion to H1-B visa.

This position has a hybrid work schedule with three days in the office and the option for working remotely two days.

Qualifications

Education

Required

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field. In lieu of a degree, at least 12 years of experience in the role of Platform Engineer or related position

Preferred

Azure Solutions Architect, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer preferred

Skills and Experience

5+ years of experience in platform engineering and infrastructure componentsExperience in automated interaction with physical infrastructureExperience in managing and maintaining cloud-based environments such as AWS, GCP, or AzureExperience with monitoring and log management tools such as Nagios, Grafana, and ELKExperience in developing and implementing backup and disaster recovery strategiesExcellent scripting experience in languages such as Python, PowerShell, and BashExperience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and configuration management tools such as Ansible, Chef, and TerraformExperience with ArgoCD, GitHub, Artifactory, and VaultExperience with Grafana, Prometheus, Otel CollectorTechnical Skills
