If you’re ready to roll up your sleeves, treat the business as if it is your own and add value accordingly, come see why we’re Calumet Proud!PURPOSE AND ROLE:This is an advanced opportunity position for employees for future company advancement which requires providing the organization with technical and operating expertise on all aspects of processing techniques used by the refinery to ensure the following:Implement safety, environmental consciousness, and reliability into unit designs.Adopt principles of continuous improvement to drive out waste and inefficiency and enhance profitability.The Operations Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating the Cotton Valley Refinery Operations. Reporting to this position are four shifts of B Operators, A Operators, Tech Operators and 1 shift of Safety Captains. This role provides process expertise, technical knowledge, and supports the operations of the Process units and Utilities.This role is responsible for ensuring all HSE requirements are met, product quality meets specifications, production schedules are developed and executed, and maintenance activities are coordinated with operations to ensure mechanical integrity and maximum plant reliability. This must all be done while maximizing profitability through production optimization, implementing new products and capacity and by controlling costs as appropriate.This position is a key member of the site staff and is expected to interact with all plant personnel to solve problems and make substantial decisions to effect improvement throughout all areas of the refinery.JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Oversees the safe and reliable operation of all Process Units, Utilities, and the Wastewater Unit.Coordinates site operations and activities with the Distribution, Lab and Maintenance Departments.Sets clear expectations for performance of the Operators and measures results.Focuses on proactive ways to achieve HSE goals for reducing injuries, spills, permit deviations, etc.Establishes and ensures operators meet and maintain housekeeping standards.Ensures thorough investigations on all incidents (safety, environmental and disciplinary) that occur on shift. Follows up on action items to completion with team.Provides safety leadership by conducting safety meetings with operators.Encourages participation in the behavior-based safety observation system to reduce injuries by identifying unsafe/at-risk behaviors.Promotes a “Do it Safely” culture that does not cut corners and follows all safety procedures.Enforces all safety rules.Performs leadership duties during emergencies, staying current with emergency procedures.Ensures all Safety Work Permits are issued with 100% compliance to procedures, via audits and observations.Ensures team members follow operating procedures to ensure product quality is consistent and meets specifications.Performs thorough investigations on quality issues.Develops, issues, and executes on Production Unit Schedules for all areas.Understands unit capacities and bottlenecks and identifies opportunities for improvements to meet business plan needs.Coordinates and plans with maintenance to ensure equipment is prepped, clean, locked out for maintenance as required.Ensures maintenance work order priorities for Operational Units and Utilities are appropriate.Teams up with Maintenance to develop long range Turnaround Plans, to ensure compliance with mechanical integrity requirements, and plans to maximize plant reliability.Ensures production schedules are followed to maximize productivity of the Operations Department.Escalates communications as appropriate during off-shift hours due to any HSE, quality, or production issues that may occur.Increases process/plant reliability by identifying improvement areas and developing action plans to execute while working with other plant resources.Develops, maintains, and updates the Energy Control Plans used for equipment preparation.Coordinates with Maintenance on developing Turnaround Plans.Maximizes profitability through production optimization, implementation of new products and capacity increases and controls costs as appropriate.Promotes a positive and team-oriented attitude among your team members and across the site.Addresses all employee performance issues in their area.Evaluates skills, trains, and develops the Operators.Reviews goals and objectives periodically with Supervisors and coaches on how to improve performance.Required Education/Experiences:HS Diploma10+ years’ experience preferred as an Operator, Shift Supervisor or in support of manufacturing units.High level of proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)Preferred Education/Experiences:Engineering capabilities preferred up to Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical EngineeringCompetencies:Good communication, time management and interpersonal skillsStrong analytical and problem-solving skills.Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to work with minimal supervision.Able to multitask and handle multiple projects and deadlines.Capability and willingness to supervise employees and hold them accountable.Salary and benefits commensurate with experience.
