As a global strength function, this role focuses on North American public policies that could impact our products, business, and build our brand and reputation with government stakeholders.Key responsibilitiesStrategic Leadership:
Develop and implement overarching strategies for federal and state advocacy, ensuring alignment with BorgWarner’s long-term business goals and growth initiatives.Government Affairs Strategy:
Collaborate with the VP, Government Affairs on the development of strategic plans for government affairs, focusing on enhancing the company’s brand and reputation with government stakeholders.Public Affairs Strategy:
Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as Marketing, Investor Relations, Human Resources, and other subject matter experts, to co-develop and support public affairs strategies that support the company’s communication and reputation management goals.Internal Advising and Consensus Building:
Serve as a key advisor to internal stakeholders, providing strategic insights and fostering consensus on legislative and regulatory issues.Policy Research and Analysis:
Oversee comprehensive policy research initiatives to identify and analyze legislative and regulatory trends.Management of External Consultants:
Direct and manage external consultants to ensure effective lobbying strategies and advocacy campaigns.Leadership of State Affairs Personnel:
Hire, manage, and develop state affairs personnel to ensure cohesive and effective advocacy efforts across the company’s priority states.Economic Development Advocacy:
Support economic development initiatives by collaborating with the Economic Development team.Legislative and Regulatory Monitoring:
Establish processes for monitoring and analyzing legislative and regulatory developments in North America.Stakeholder Engagement:
Develop and maintain strong relationships with government officials, industry associations, and other key stakeholders.Compliance and Governance:
Oversee compliance with federal and state lobbying regulations.
