Senior Data Analyst
to perform data exploration & analysis on disparate
data sources (structured & unstructured)
and communicate the results to enable technology teams to design and build data pipelines and stakeholders to help make business decisions.
Job Description
Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to understand the existing data models, structures and business needs related to the Financial Instruments and Issuing Entities, and develop strategies and solutions to minimize record drops, improve overall data quality, and enhance the accuracy of the dashboard.Analyze and assess existing data sets using SQL to understand their structure, quality and model.Write, optimize, and execute SQL queries to explore, analyze, and validate data sets across various financial domains.Identify and document join criteria between different data sets, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and relevance to the dashboard's objectives.Review data quality and reliability, document any existing issues, and analyze how merging different data sets affects consistency, including identifying and measuring any data loss.Formulate SQL queries, detect data anomalies and report back to data owners for resolution.Assist in the development of data validation and testing frameworks to ensure the reliability and accuracy of data displayed in the dashboard.Close collaboration with Data Architect to understand data & data models.Establish strong relationships with business partners and key stakeholders, engage with business areas from across the organization to understand the opportunities/challenges we face daily and present back analytical findings.Follow processes to make decisions on query approach and visualization outputs, taking ownership on how to solve more complex problems.Escalate any identified issues and opportunities as appropriate.Support an environment where creative thinking is encouraged and developed.
QualificationsBachelor’s degree with minimum 8+ years experience overall, 5+ years as Data Analyst.Highly numerate and passionate about data and analytics.Strong expertise required in Exploratory Data Analysis on SQL & Python.Experience working on relational databases e.g. Oracle, Postgres & any cloud databases.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with knowledge of SQL & Data Visualization best practices.Self-starter with ability to work on own initiative and strong attention to detail, completing tasks to a very high degree of accuracy.Strong communication and presentation skills, able to evidence proven ability to engage with senior stakeholders and influence approach.
