We are currently looking for market reporters to join our editorial team to cover specific commodity markets and report on deals, price movements and market news.This is an excellent opportunity to forge your career covering the economically and politically influential sector of global energy and commodities. You will apply and develop your skills across daily news reporting, market analysis, features and editorials in this fast-paced environment with the highest standards of journalistic independence and integrity; and there are opportunities to travel and present papers at industry conferences and lead webinar sessions.Responsibilities:Monitor and assess markets to produce daily price assessments, market commentaries, news, analysis and reports.Develop and oversee methodology, including timely communication of needed changes, additions or deletions.Curate data and maintain and analyze existing data series to inform coverage and develop graphs and charts to illustrate trends and analysis.Develop an understanding of relevant commodity markets, working with other Argus teams to produce joint content.Regular meetings and daily communication with key members of the industry, including traders, brokers, and business leaders to build relationships and gather news.Contribute copy to relevant daily and periodical publications and the online news service, and contribute to special content and presentations as required.Work with other departments to help promote the use of Argus price assessments and help develop new pricing tools for the freight market.Attend meetings, conferences and industry events to build contacts, report on news and represent Argus in the industry.Act as a mentor.Contribute to presentations as directed by management.Skills and Experience:3+ years of experience in the commodities industry, journalism or a related sector.Proven ability to develop, source and write industry-relevant news to deadline.Background in maritime, freight or oil sectors useful, but not essential.Excellent writing, grammar and numeracy skills (these will be tested as part of the interview process).Ability to use data in generating stories and analysis is preferred, while a willingness to learn is essential.A strong understanding of market supply and demand dynamics in commodities.Excellent communication skills with ability to network and build contacts with industry executives.Presentation and public speaking skills.Strong coordination and time management skills with the ability to work well within a team.Additional languages useful but not essential.Attributes:Demonstrable interest in global business and politics.Self-motivated, able to use initiative and equipped with an inquisitive nature.Ability to collaborate and work within a close-knit team is essential.Travel:Business meetings, cover conferences and events (5-25% of domestic/overseas travel is expected).What’s in it for you?Our rapidly growing, award-winning business offers a dynamic environment for talented, entrepreneurial professionals to achieve results and grow their careers.
