We invite you to start your career journey with us and look forward to hearing from you.Job SummaryChartwells Higher Ed is looking to hire a Regional Controller, you will be responsible for leading the accounting and finance activity for all California State Universities supported by Chartwells. You will also be assisting the Divisional Director of Finance with all aspects of the financial activities that occur within the region. You will take charge of accuracy, internal controls, financial analysis, and strategic planning. This role is remote and offers a flexible location in California and expecting 25% travel. This role does offer relocation.Key Responsibilities:Ensures all accounting activity within the Region is performed accurately and completelyEnsures all account procedures conform with strict internal control requirements to safeguard Company assets, including cash, inventory and accounts receivablePerforms reconciliation and analysis for several balance sheet accounts and resolves discrepanciesAnalyzes financial results including Key Performance Indicators for both internal and external useUnderstands contractual financial terms and obligations to ensure Chartwells complianceDevelops forecasts and budgets, identifying risks and opportunitiesReviews weekly general ledger activity and prepares correcting entries as neededParticipates in building proformas for new business and account retentionCompletes financial reports monthly, quarterly and annually as neededTrains, mentors and develops all unit accounting and clerical staff and provides financial guidance to operational account managersPrepares and presents financial summaries for both internal and client leadershipPerforms related duties and special projects as assignedTravel expected at 25%Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Accounting strongly preferredFood service accounting experience preferredA minimum of five years hands on experience requiredExperience supporting operations is strongly preferredStrong Excel analytic skills requiredAbility to prepare key metric reports, budgets, forecasts, cash flow projections and analysesProven ability to work closely with teams and client partnersStrong communicator with ability to explain financial and accounting principles to various levels of management and support personnelAdept at planning, organizing and controlling complex processes as well as preparing and analyzing moderately complex financial modelsExperience with POS, cash and credit card reportsSkilled at managing multiple priorities and relationshipsComputer skills: proficient in Microsoft Office with a concentration in ExcelConformity to the highest standards of personal integrity and ethical behaviorMust reside in CaliforniaApply to Chartwells Higher Education today!Chartwells Higher Education is a member of Compass Group USAClick here to Learn More about the Compass StoryCompass Group is an equal opportunity employer.
