Job Title: Java Software Developer
Location : Eglin AFB, FL (Hybrid)
Canvas is seeking a Java Software Developer to support our customer, the 96 RNCS. This opportunity is located at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida 32542. The 96th Range Control Squadron Operations involve the real-time tracking and control of aircraft and weapons in flight, data collection, and data processing for real-time and post-mission system under test performance analysis.
Duties:
*All software development will be completed with Java
Execute programming oversight activities.
Solve software problems single-handedly or in cooperation with other engineers.
Provide Architectural Guidance to ensure maintainability of the current systems.
Contribute to software project planning activities by translating business requirements, specifications, and system user needs into usable and scalable software.
Provide solutions to a variety of complex technical problems.
Ensure software standards are met.
Communicate status with leadership and customers.
Own the entire SDLC from software design, development, documentation, testing, and debugging and have the ability to work alone; individually, without supervision.
Requirements:
Bachelors in Computer Science or relevant field.
3-10 years of relevant experience.
Proficiency in Java, understanding of Java GUIs (ideally JAVA FX or Swing and SwingX) and strong knowledge of Windows OS.
Solid verbal and written communication skills along with customer interaction and presentation capabilities required.
Familiarity with object-oriented design and ability to mentor peer software engineers.
Comfort using SOLID design principles to enable other software engineers to develop and maintain code efficiently.
Experience in design, development, and testing of user interfaces desired.
TSPI (RADAR/GPS) along with live open-air T&E exposure and telemetry experience involving data parameterization of multiple stream formats desired.
Security Clearance:
Must have and be able to maintain a Secret security clearance.
