GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Performs complex (journey-level) computer application systems support work resolving user-reported problems for all applications.Supports all TJJD applications and local juvenile probation departments throughout the state of Texas.Provides operational, technical, and user support for all applications including data entry, review and maintenance regarding the use of the TJJD applications to stakeholders, including agency staff, and juvenile probation departments. Answers and responds to customer calls, analyzes user requirements, and aids in design of automated processing to improve existing systems.Will train others.
Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.May be required to work in excess of 40 hours per work week and be on-call.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provides technical support and guidance as a high-level resource to agency staff and juvenile probation departments throughout the state regarding TJJD applications. Tracks customer inquiries via an automated tracking tool. (35%)
Works with both TJJD staff and juvenile probation department staff to analyze user needs, define the system's scope, document requirements, and translate the user needs and requirements into functional specifications for the design of business systems. (10%)
Tests applications during development of any new functionality and prior to deployment of system enhancements. (10%)
Coordinates all functional/technical support for TJJD's internal and external applications. Manages user accounts. (15%)
Participates in planning meetings and routinely provides relevant information to address system requirements throughout all phases of the system development life cycle. (5%)
Coordinates with other IT Division teams to determine issues and resolutions. (5%)
Researches outside sources for known solutions to increase agency knowledgebase. (5%)
Assists with the development and coordination of publication of training materials; coordinating, planning, and scheduling user training sessions; evaluating training modules and methodologies; and analyzing and testing new or existing procedures for efficiency and effectiveness. (10%)
Reports any presence or perception of racial, ethnic, and/or gender disparities.
Performs a variety of related duties not listed, to be determined and assigned as needed.
Performs all duties in compliance with agency safety policies and procedures:
Reports safety hazards and corrects hazards when possible.Completes required documentation in the event of an accident/injury within requested timeframes.Attends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency attendance and leave policies.
Qualifications:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree.Three (3) years of full-time wage-earning experience supporting software applications, and troubleshooting PC problems or related tasks.
OR
High School Diploma or equivalent.Seven (7) years of full-time wage-earning experience troubleshooting PC problems or related tasks.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree with major course work in computer science, management information systems, or a closely related field.Proficiency with Microsoft Office.Experience working for a governmental entity.Experience working with the JCMS system.Experience working with TJJD External Applications (JMT,COMETS, ICIS, Program Registry, JJAEP).Experience and Education Substitutions:
One year of appropriate experience may substitute for one year of college (30 course hours) on a year for year basis.Completed course hours of undergraduate study may substitute for up to four years of experience on a basis of 30 course hours for one year of experience.Undergraduate course hours may not substitute for the two years of customer service-related work.Completed course hours of graduate study may substitute for up to two years of experience on a basis of 12 graduate course hours for one year of experience.Graduate course hours may not substitute for the two years of customer service-related work.Experience requirements may be satisfied by the prorated part-time equivalent.Note :All degree(s), semester hours, diploma(s), or GED required to meet minimum qualifications must be obtained from an accredited educational institution.
