1st Monday - Friday 7:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Evening and weekend work will be required as job duties demand.
The Mechanical Sheet Metal-HVAC CAD CAM Designer is responsible for developing detailed drawings in accordance with MGM Products Inc. standards. The position carries the responsibility to ensure that the work is implemented effectively within cost, schedule, and accuracy parameters. Research, design and document mechanical/electromechanical products and systems related to commercial HVAC equipment. Provides mechanical engineering support for application, fabrication, testing, installation, and repair of MGM Products Inc. systems and products. This position provides leadership to achieve and maintain the highest standards of quality, customer satisfaction, on-time delivery, and service at the most competitive cost in support of company goals.
Job Duties:
Prepares part and assembly drawings for customers and in-house manufacturing using Solid Edge.
Provides mechanical design of products in accordance with engineering design standards and customer specifications and code requirements such as NFPA 70, UL 1995 and UL 60335-2-40.
Creates engineering documentation related to the mechanical design of HVAC equipment such as design spreadsheets, bill of materials, and mechanical drawings.
Designs and models components and assemblies in 3D CAD environment.
Provides engineering support and generates technical information for sales, marketing, applications engineering, production, and field service groups.
Evaluates design requests and specifications for engineering feasibility.
Evaluates field installations and recommends design modifications to eliminate equipment or system malfunctions.
Process all paperwork for shop fabrication.
Utilize CAM software to program parts for fabrication process.
Works directly with supervisors and project managers to interpret project direction for the approval, revision, and production release of the product.
Participates in continuous improvement efforts.
Communicates with other departments as required for project work.
Participates in project meetings and conference calls as required.
Has good communication skills including correct grammar.
Has strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Follows all organizational and area/departmental procedures, safety policies and directives as outlined.
Other duties as assigned.
Skills/Qualifications:
Minimum 3 to 5 years' work experience preferred with Sheet Metal CAD detail drawing in commercial HVAC.
Proficiency with software tools including Solid Edge, MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and other related 3D detailing software tools.
3D CAD design/modeling (Solid Edge and/or sheet metal design knowledge preferred).
PLM experience (Teamcenter Preferred)
Ability to read and understand English instructions.
Algebra, trigonometry, statistics, and application of formulas and tables to perform engineering calculations.
Demonstrates and displays honesty, integrity, and personal accountability.
Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.
Ability to interface with construction industry professionals with professionalism and credibility.
