This is a contingent position 6-8 months.
Performs complex software engineering tasks. Provides technical software expertise to research, design, develop and test engineering activities. Reviews project progress and evaluates results. Estimates costs and schedules, and provides technical inputs for proposal efforts. This position typically works under limited supervision and direction.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:Provides expertise for software development/engineering programs, and interfaces with team members and managersOutlines and communicates the most appropriate technical approach for software project activitiesDetermines the technical direction and strategy for solving complex, significant or major issuesIdentifies, investigates and resolves software technical issuesPlans and evaluates architectural design and identifies technical risks and associated ways to mitigate those risksPrepares design proposals to reflect cost, schedule and technical approachesRecommends test control, strategies, apparatus and equipmentDefines test data requirements. Tests software and documents resultsPrepares development software, codes software and designs specific enhancementsMaintains liaison with subcontractor and vendor representativesConducts in-house design reviews and technical meetingsApplies expertise to all areas of software engineering and developmentInterfaces with team members, management staff, subcontractors and vendorsMinimum Job Requirements:This job is at a cleared facility, we can only hire US persons at this site. A US person is either a US citizen or a Permanent resident. Candidates for this position must have or be able to acquire a US secret clearance.Four-year college degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related technical discipline, plus a minimum of six years of related experience, or a master’s degree with three years of experience.Effective written and oral communication skills.Experience to include software development/engineering, developing state-of-the-art computer software, exercising creativity in technical direction and successful strategy development.Ability to interpret technical contract requirements.Requires proficiency using programming languages such as: Java, “C/C++/C#,” Product Lifecycle Management, graphics or other developmental software.Requires ability to develop software in a Linux, Windows (Windows 10 and up), Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) or other PC environments. Requires experience with embedded processing.Ability to use PC software such as word processing, database, spreadsheet and flowchart, and Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools.Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing, and interface with subcontractors and vendors.Must be able to solve difficult engineering problems.Able to prioritize work and complete tasks under deadline and budget guidelines.Must be able to work in a lab environment and be able to use a computer.Candidates are required to have the following:Work in San Diego at Cubic's Balboa Avenue officeSecret clearanceThe description provided above is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all job duties, responsibilities and requirements.
