This role can be located at our Englewood, Colorado or Loveland, Ohio facility.Beehive Propulsion Systems is seeking a Principal Engineer, Gas Turbine Software Engineer to join our team. The Propulsion Systems team designs and develops attritable gas turbine engines by designing to the uniqueness of additive manufacturing process. The engineering team is made up of many parts that need to work together seamlessly and we need you to help improve our design process by developing software to maximize efficiency and communication.WHAT YOU'LL DO:Develop software to facilitate efficiency improvements across functional modules in Beehive propulsion engineering.Develop documentation for the software to easily disseminate information and shorten learning curve for engineers.Work with a talented team to design, procure, and evaluate data systems and software for acquiring, processing, and storing instrumentation data from engine and rig tests.Coordinate and execute code improvements from user requests quickly rolling out new versions of software.Demonstrate ownership on all pieces of work; become a trusted partner the engineering analysis team.Identify and resolve systemic execution issues across the team or group that require broader initiatives to resolve.Identify, resolve, and escalate key cross team dependencies.Understand technical implementation at the architectural level and propose alternatives when necessary; ask questions that clarify priorities.CORE REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science or a related fieldDemonstrated proficiency in the application of engineering standards into engineering processes or requirementsAbility to write and debug highly complex codeExperience assessing software design and performing code reviews for Python, C/C++Familiarity with LinuxComfortable working with ambiguity, evolving priorities, and challenging problemsExcellent communication and presentation skillsPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Familiarity with modern software development practices and designs, unit testing, integration test, and release processesExperience in building programs for software deliverables from ground upFamiliarity with integrating, storing, or processing time-series data from diverse sources.Proficiency in developing data acquisition, sensor data management, or stream processing software.Expertise in owning and executing technical roadmaps, developing state-of-the-art systems, and planning long-term support for legacy systems.Experience writing Bash and Python scripts to automate tasks in a Linux environmentAbility to work within organizations with minimal structure and with minimal directionExcellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong technical, analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to use data and metrics to back up assumptions, recommendations and drive decisionsExperience with tools like Git, VSCode, Spyder, Jupyter, LabViewUnderstanding of gas turbine engine designIf this sounds like you, please submit an application with your resume.
