Sr. Controls Software Engineer
to join their facility in Wilsonville, OR. This company designs and builds engineer-to-order precision automation systems.

Primary Function:
The
Sr. Controls Software Engineer
is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing advanced PLC control systems for cutting-edge automation equipment. This includes integrating high-speed motion control, robotics, vision-guided systems, and custom HMIs. This position offers the opportunity to lead, design, and implement cutting-edge control software while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to bring advanced automation solutions to life.
Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities:
Mentor teams of Controls Software Engineer Technicians to deliver automation software solutions within defined timelines and budgets.Architects, designs, codes, tests, and maintains complex PLC software applications.Develops detailed software design specifications and schedules for assigned projects.Maintains knowledge in PLC software design, testing techniques, and PLC software development tools.Provides design guidelines, and general and detailed software design specifications to other software engineers.Effectively assess and communicate project risks. Deliver risk mitigation plans.Suggests new and innovative approaches to solving problems.Interfaces with customers during quoting, specification, design-review, buy-off, and installation phases.Participates in developing company processes, procedures, and standards.
Education and Experience:
(Knowledge, skills, & abilities)
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (MS preferred).5+ years in PLC programming, including motion control and robotics integration.3+ years leading PLC programming teams.Hands-on experience with SCADA systems, HMI development, and servo-based motion.Expertise in PLC platforms (Allen Bradley, Siemens, Bosch, or Beckhoff).Proficiency with safety controllers, OPC/UA, MQTT, and Restful APIs.Strong problem-solving, organizational, and leadership skills.Ability to read schematics and debug complex automation systems.Ability to pass a background check and drug test upon acceptance of an offer.
Work Environment:
Standard office environment with normal amounts of office related conditions. Occasionally may be required to work in environmental conditions that emulate typical user environments in order to facilitate design testing and validation. Occasionally may be required to travel as required to other facilities, clients or suppliers.SIGMA
