The Carrier Relations Specialist I assists in the execution of the transportation procurement strategy for an assigned region.Essential FunctionsPrimary daily point of contact for carrier partners within a given regionAssist in the procurement of short term and tactical transportation capacityCommunicating Key Performance Indicators to carrier partners and leverage contractual obligations and relationship to ensure complianceCommunicate daily sourcing needs to carriers while optimizing and maximizing contracted capacityAttend/lead selected carrier meetings including compiling and evaluating summaries of carrier performanceIdentify cost-saving opportunities to reduce Total Cost of Ownership for assigned regionProvide recommendations for supplier process improvementsInteraction with various supply chain departments to drive transportation initiativesOn-board, train, and develop new carriersWork with suppliers to track pricing and capacity changesInvolved in department strategy that include setting team goals, project creation/evaluation, and serving as a project lead for procurement initiativesPlease note this job description is not designed to contain a comprehensive list of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
