Job: Senior IT Project Manager Job Summary: The Senior IT Project Manager is a client-facing service role, primarily accountable for managing all aspects of the project lifecycle from initial intake to closing, reporting to the Director of the IT Project Management Office (PMO). The Senior IT Project Manager works with fellow members of Barnard College Information Technology (BCIT), other administrators within the College, and external vendors to manage project deliverables. The Senior IT Project Manager has additional leadership responsibilities, and supports BCIT's transition to an agile IT organization. This position will be hybrid, with on-site presence as required by project needs. Job Description: Duties & Responsibilities: Drive large project efforts from initial intake to product deployment: Work with clients and BCIT leadership to assess strategic alignment , effort and risk level of new project requests. For approved projects, support team formation and facilitate development of a common vision, initial scope, release plan and communication plan. Lead project team through business analysis activities to elicit requirements, identify risks, manage stakeholders and prioritize work. Foster a collaborative environment between Barnard clients, BCIT resources, vendor resources and other IT groups. Coordinate all activities to successfully design, document, develop and deploy project deliverables. Serve as the single point of contact for all assigned project-related activities (project deliverables, risk & issue management, change management, escalation, scheduling meetings, etc.). Coordinate procurement activities as needed. Monitor project progress and facilitate resolution of issues with vendors and key stakeholders (administrators, faculty, students) through the appropriate escalation channels. Conduct retrospectives for continuous improvement. Manage project budget , change orders, and invoicing. Facilitate the transition from project to operations and collection of lessons learned. Throughout the project lifecycle, create and maintain project documentation and keep information current in the BCIT project portfolio management software. Provide project leadership : Drive project teams towards successful delivery results and continuous improvement . Work directly with senior management and project sponsors to secure acceptance and approval of deliverables. Manage escalation of issues when key decisions need to be made, and facilitate the decision process. Coordinate project steering committee activities. Build and nurture relationships with vendors, consultants and Columbia community partners. Develop institutional project management capacity : Coach / mentor other project managers. Identify project management training needs and recommend and/or conduct trainings. Serve as an IT liaison or project management coach on efforts where a BCIT PMO project manager is not needed. Represent Barnard IT and develop collaborative relationships with BCIT colleagues, project clients and the broader College community . Additional responsibilities as assigned by Director of IT Project Management Office. Skills, Qualifications & Requirements: Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent in work experience. Minimum 6 years of experience managing projects with a technology component. Strong facilitation and presentation skills. Ability to work both individually and as part of a team, and to act as a servant leader . Comfort with ambiguity and change, and ability to adapt to shifting priorities. Autonomy, drive and self-motivation. Ability to synthesize and translate large amounts of unstructured information into clear business requirements. Strong writing skills. Highly organized and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously. Demonstrated ability to develop sets of strategic deliverables for large-scale, high-impact, complex projects . Demonstrated ability to meet goals through influence where authority is not an available option. Demonstrated ability to mentor other project managers and staff in project management methodologies. Proficient office productivity software skills (Office, Google Workspace). Preferred Qualifications: Business analysis experience, specifically eliciting and documenting requirements. Agile or Lean certification(s) and experience. PMP and other certifications from Project Management Institute (PMI). Experience in managing vendor relationships and driving vendor deliverables. Prior experience as an IT project manager in higher education. Prior experience as an IT project manager working on large system implementations, process re-engineering projects and user experience improvement projects. Prior experience with student information systems, in particular Workday Student and Ellucian Colleague. Salary Range : $110,000 - $115,000 The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training.
