BerryDunn is seeking a
Governmental Accounting/Auditing Manager
to join our Healthcare/Not-For-Profit Practice Area. You will join a core team tasked with driving our pursuit of new governmental accounting/auditing projects and supporting our current projects. Our engagements include performing Financial Statement and Uniform Guidance audits, performing Internal Audits, providing technical assistance and assisting with implementing new accounting standards. This position is planned to be based in our Manchester, NH, Waltham, MA, Portland, ME or Bangor, ME locations or remotely. You Will Serve as project manager on projects leading the team (often including both client and BerryDunn employees) to successful project conclusions. Maintain active communication with clients to manage expectations, ensure satisfaction, and lead change efforts effectively. Consult, work with, and service client base to make recommendations on business improvement and process improvement and serve as a business advisor to client. Ensure the BerryDunn team develops concise summaries, reports, and presentations of complex data for client leadership, sometimes through delegation, and other times completing these activities as the primary “doer”. Team with principals and senior managers on proposals and business development calls. Manage, develop, train, and mentor staff on projects and assess performance for engagement and performance meetings. Collaborate with team members to plan, develop and implement project activities to achieve project and client goals. Contribute significantly to business development and client service opportunities for the governmental accounting group. Perform planning, testing and documentation in accordance with Generally Accepted Auditing Standards and Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards. Conduct audits in accordance with established audit program guidelines such as Generally Accepted Auditing Standards and Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards. Conduct research of laws, guidelines and other reference materials as needed. Stay up to date with governmental accounting and auditing standards. Understand and manage firm risk on audits and proposals. You Have Bachelor’s degree in Accounting At least 5 years of experience in public accounting specifically auditing local governments Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills. Ability to work independently, balancing multiple assignments and achieving quality results in a timely manner. Proven supervisory and training success Ability to create and sustain positive working relationships with staff and diverse constituencies and work independently as well as collaboratively as required. Knowledgeable in quality assurance/control procedures and demonstrated proactive problem management skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Compensation Details The base salary range targeted for this role is $100,000 - $120,000. This salary range represents BerryDunn’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. If an applicant possesses experience, education, or other qualifications in excess of the minimum requirements for this posting, that applicant is encouraged to apply and a final salary range may then be based on those additional qualifications; compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, years of experience, depth of experience, seniority, merit, education, training, amount of travel, and other relevant business considerations.
