Detox Counselor (Full-time, swing shift)

The Salvation Army ATS is seeking to fill a full-time Detox Counselor position. Hours are 2:30pm to 10:30pm, weekdays and/or weekends. Under the supervision of the Detox Clinical Supervisor, the Detox Counselor is responsible for providing Social Detox clients with the clinical services necessary to realize a safe detoxification from alcohol and other drugs. Provides screening, admission, discharge, and referral services to Detox clients. Provides individual counseling and conducts alcohol education and skill-building sessions designed to motivate the Detox client to seek treatment. Handles crises and client issues for all ATS clients.
Minimum Requirements:Minimum of one-year experience providing substance abuse treatment services, emergency medical services, or CNA.Must demonstrate measurable progress annually toward obtaining either a CSAC or a master's degree in behavioral health science.Knowledge of community resources and ability to communicate effectively with outside agencies.Ability to relate comfortably and supportively with intoxicated persons; function as a team member; respond calmly and efficiently to stressful situations and crises; and keep accurate records.Must have current CPR/First Aid Training.Qualifications:Education:
Bachelors of Psychology (preferred)Licenses & Certifications:
