$25.59/hourGeneral Statement of Duties:Under the supervision of the Sewer & Water Division Foreman, performs routine tasks and special assignments that are in areas of responsibility of the Sewer & Water Division. This position will be the primary position for performing water meter reading functions which includes use of water reading software requiring data downloads and uploads into the system. Other assignments include, but are not limited to, performing maintenance and repairs to sewer & water mains and service lines servicing properties within the Town of Rockport. This position may occasionally be assigned to perform tasks that are in the area of responsibility of other DPW Divisions. Additional assignments may include such things as building maintenance and repairs, repairing and patching streets and sidewalks, cleaning catch basins and drainage pipe, as well as operating snow plow vehicles and equipment for snow and ice removal from streets and sidewalks.SUPERVISION RECEIVED:The Division Foreman will assign routine tasks and special assignments that are required to be performed by this position. Frequent communication between the Division Foreman and the Specialist will be required in order to schedule and monitor the progress of work assignments.General Duties:

The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position.)Install and maintain water meter equipment.Perform water meter readings and data transfer/entry into the Water & Sewer reading system.Work with office staff in maintaining records for billing to ensure that all necessary information is accurately and completely entered into the computer.Perform Sewer I&I Inspections and Repairs, including operating and maintaining video inspection camera.Responsible to keep water meter reading and video inspection van stocked with inventory and equipment commonly used for water meter readings and pipe inspections.Perform duties required as part of the Town's Cross Connection and Backflow Prevention Programs.Turn on and off all water mains, hydrants and services, as needed, with proper notification to property owners.Locate and mark out water and sewer utilities for private contractors upon request through the DPW office.Inspect contractor's and plumber's water and sewer installations to ensure they meet Department standards. Keep a record and sketch of all installations for the office files.Perform water main taps permitted by the Department.Maintain and repair town-owned summer water lines. Turn off and drain in the fall; turn on and flush in the spring.Maintain all hydrants.Flush the department's water mains and hydrants.Maintain an inventory of equipment and material commonly used in the division.Cleaning and clearing of sewer mains to prevent or clear blockages and to ensure continuous flow.Report to supervisor any suggestions you may have to improve and or upgrade this operation.QUALIFICATIONS:Education, Training and Experience:Computer skills and the capability to operate water reading software and video inspection camera are required.Special Requirements:Must have a valid Class D Driver's License, CDL Class B License with water tanker endorsement, and 1C 2A Hydraulic License and Specialty 4G or the ability to obtain a CDL Class B License with water tanker endorsement within one (1) year of employment and Hydraulic and Specialty Licenses within six (6) months of employment. Failure to obtain the required licenses within the stated period of time is just cause for immediate termination from employment with the Town of Rockport DPW. Must submit to CDL Drug testing regulations. Ability to obtain D2 Water Distribution License within one (1) year.Knowledge, Ability and Skill:At times, this position will be required to work shifts greater than 8 hours.This position is required to perform overtime emergency work or duties that may routinely require overtime work to be performed.Plowing snow in winter will be required during normal and overtime hours of operation.Knowledge of power and hand tools to perform the necessary work is required.Strenuous physical effort often will be required to accomplish duties of the position.
