We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Emergency Medicine Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join our dynamic team in Athens, Ohio. In this role, you will provide high-quality care in a fast-paced emergency department, ensuring timely and efficient treatment for patients. As an Emergency Medicine NP or PA, your key responsibilities will include conducting thorough assessments of patients presenting with acute medical issues. You will manage an average daily census of 31.6 patients and approximately 5-6 nightly admissions, providing care in a timely manner. Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals, is essential to ensure optimal patient care. You will also perform various diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, such as paracentesis, thoracentesis, bone marrow biopsies, and PICC line placements. Developing and implementing individualized treatment plans based on comprehensive patient assessments and evidence-based practices is critical. You will monitor and manage patients within the emergency department and coordinate care with specialty services, including Pulmonology, Surgery, Orthopedics, Cardiology, Pediatrics, Ophthalmology, and Interventional Radiology. Providing patient education on follow-up care, health promotion, and disease prevention will also be part of your role. You will be responsible for accurately documenting all patient interactions, assessments, and treatment plans while participating in quality improvement initiatives and maintaining compliance with hospital policies and protocols . Schedule: This position includes shifts from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM, with potential variations based on departmental needs. Flexibility in scheduling is essential. Qualifications: Emergency Medicine or Family Medicine-trained NP/PA with at least 2 years of Emergency Medicine experience. Board Certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant is required. Current ACLS and BLS certifications are mandatory. Active Ohio state license or willingness to obtain.
