Job Duties

Manages the transportation of In-Mates within the Virginia Department of Corrections to institutions, community based programs and local jails. Priority transfers are made in accordance with established criteria and in a timely fashion. Provide for the maximum utilization of all bed space. Determine available transportation resources and assists Transportation Officers in coordinating the physical transport of In-Mates

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent. Working knowledge of state and local facilities and departmental policy and procedure from a custody and control standpoint.

Additional Considerations

Considerable knowledge of classification and records procedures and sections of the Code of Virginia. Competency in supervisory skills. Demonstrate the ability to read, interpret and explain procedures and to communicate effectively to the field. Ability to organize and carry out detailed and complex assignments. Experience in correctional records office, preferably supervisory in nature.
