Our client, the
Domestic Violence Service Center , is currently seeking a
full-time Assistant Controller .
Under the direction of the Corporate Controller this position prepares financial information and financial reports to determine or maintain records of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, grant management or other financial activities within an organization.
Job duties include but are not limited to:
FISCAL: Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and grant management. Supervise and/or manage general ledger accounting functions. Manage up-to-date accounts receivable and accounts payable records. Prepare and maintain records for non-profit fund accounting. Maintain and complete accurate general ledger and general journal posting on a monthly basis. Reconcile bank statements and deposits. Prepare, review and analyze monthly financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness. Work with Corporate Controller to ensure correct and timely closing and reporting at year-end. Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial audit/grant reporting activities. Maintain the fixed asset and related depreciation schedules; ensure proper recording of new purchases and disposals. Track and maintain company insurance policies, assemble documentation for annual audits of those insurance policies. Monitors day-to-day accounting processes to identify opportunities for quality and process improvements. Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as requested. PAYROLL/EMPLOYEE BENEFITS:
Review agency time sheets for accuracy; process time sheets for payroll company; coordinate payroll deductions as required. Ensure that DVSC 401(k) policies are current, signed and retained. Process monthly 401(k) payments. Inform the Corporate Controller of any changes or inaccuracies. GENERAL OFFICE:
* Maintain administrative office financial and funding source finance files.
* Oversee the administrative office tasks including but not limited to business files, office service contracts, and the ordering of supplies.
DATA COLLECTION:
Maintain document recordkeeping and accounting systems utilizing current computer technology.
Experience and Skills Requirements:
* A bachelor's degree in accounting, Business, Finance or related field with a minimum of three years' experience as a non-profit and/or corporate accountant is required.
* Prior experience working in a nonprofit environment is strongly preferred.
* A solid working knowledge of budgeting and accounting practices, processes, and procedures, computerized accounting systems, Excel and QuickBooks is required.
* Basic working knowledge administering employee benefit programs; and managing general office procedures.
* Clearances: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA Criminal History Background Check, and FBI Criminal Background Check.
