Job Description

The Financial Systems Operations Team analyzes financial business needs, coordinates financial information systems solutions, and assists Finance and Information Services. We need a finance and information systems professional to manage Finance Information Systems, master data, finance policy & procedures, and help the Finance team achieve its vision and strategy. Manage a team of six professionals. They will be responsible for continuous improvement, best practices, efficiency in all finance areas, and regular contact with the business community in a friendly and collaborative atmosphere.

Key Management Responsibilities:

Finance Master Data Management:

Formulate and execute strategies to efficiently manage financial master data, including customer, vendor, and product data.

Ensure accurate, complete, and consistent financial data across systems and applications.

Work with the financial teams to establish data maintenance protocols, standards, and quality guidelines.

Ensure that data integrity is maintained and any faults or anomalies are addressed.

Finance Data Governance:

Implement data governance rules, techniques, and controls to safeguard financial data.

Identify data governance needs and develop frameworks with stakeholders.

Conduct structured regular reviews and assessments to evaluate data quality, compliance, and adherence to data governance standards.

Provide guidance and training to finance teams on data governance best practices.

Finance Systems Integration:

Oversee and lead the integration of several financial systems, enabling smooth data interchange and process automation.

Collaborate with IT teams to design and implement integration solutions, leveraging industry best practices and standards.

Ensure seamless connection between finance systems and external platforms by collaborating with vendors and third-party providers.

Resolve integration difficulties and enhance procedures continuously.

Finance Systems Permission Management:

Ensure compliance with security policies and regulatory requirements by managing user permissions and access rights to finance systems.

Establish user access controls, segregation of duties, and security protocols to mitigate the risk of unauthorized access and fraud.

Conduct frequent systems access and audits to ensure system compliance with controls.

Assist end users with requests for system access, permissions thresholds, and direction.

Finance Analysis, Coordination, and Transformation of Information Systems:

Analyze finance information systems performance, identify areas for improvement, and propose enhancements or optimizations.

Coordinate with finance and IT teams to prioritize and implement system enhancements, upgrades, or new system implementations.

Keep up with changes in the finance information systems business and new tools.

Work with cross-functional teams to promote adoption the adoption of financial information systems to align with business goals.

Finance Policy & Procedures

Working with the Assistant Director of Finance, manage the laboratory’s finance policy and associated procedures.

Coordinate with finance teams to incorporate the various policy items in an easy-to-read, searchable online document.

Work with laboratory stakeholders to provide policy information required to execute program management and financial transactions.

Qualifications - Required

Bachelor's in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration plus a minimum of 10+ years of experience working within finance or finance IT management

10+ years of finance experience with ERP business processes design, implementation, and support

10+ years of ERP technical experience in requirements gathering, deployment, and support with leadership of multiple finance systems implementations/upgrades

ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) certification and experience with business process reengineering for managing IT services, incident management, or change management

Extensive knowledge of ERP processes and capabilities.

Qualifications - Required (Cont.)

Understanding of technology standards, concepts, practices, and their impact

Expertise in directing ERP application improvements and delivering requirements.

Ability to lead a project team and work independently under limited supervision.

Demonstrated experience in shaping projects to meet finance department objectives

Provide direct supervision, mentor, and set goals for subordinate’s project efforts

Project management skills to succeed in a multi-discipline work environment

Ability to work analytically in a problem-solving environment

Skill in requirements collection, processes, data flows, and analysis to identify needs

Working knowledge of the software lifecycle and methodologies

Excellent customer service, verbal, and written communication skills

Qualifications - Preferred

Working knowledge of SAP S/4 HANA related modules and their integration

Skilled with SAP Business Warehouse and Business Objects reporting or similar tools.

Working knowledge of change management tools for software life cycle development

Expertise in directing non-SAP application improvements and giving specs.

Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills
