Position Overview
The
General Accountant
will play a key role within the Accounting team, supporting a global bank's financial operations. The position involves performing a wide range of general accounting functions, ensuring compliance with professional accounting standards, and contributing to the overall efficiency and accuracy of the bank's financial processes.
Key ResponsibilitiesOperational AccountingPerform daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly accounting tasks, including:
Accounts payable processingBank and check reconciliationsPayroll accrualsFixed asset managementMaintenance of monthly schedules
Payment ProcessingProcess ACH payments, and prepare wire transfers and check requests.
Invoice and Expense ReviewReview invoices and expense reimbursement requests submitted through Banktel.
Expense AllocationsOversee departmental expense allocations and record entries in PeopleSoft General Ledger.
Payroll and Fixed AssetsPrepare and review payroll entries.Record, manage, and maintain fixed asset records.
Financial ReportingPrepare monthly and year-end accruals, account analyses, and various financial reports for the Controller.
Cross-Departmental CollaborationInvestigate and resolve accounting-related issues with other departments.Respond promptly to inquiries from vendors and internal teams.
Audit and Regulatory ComplianceServe as a liaison with internal and external auditors and regulatory examiners.
Policy and Process ImprovementAssist with updating policies, procedures, and desk aids.Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and automate processes.
Special ProjectsSupport ad hoc projects and initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications
EducationBA/BS in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).Experience
Demonstrated experience in accounting or a financial back-office environment.Proven track record of leadership and increasing responsibilities.Knowledge and Skills
Proficient understanding of accounting principles and practices.Strong technical skills, including:
Accounting Systems:
PeopleSoft General Ledger or similar.Tools:
High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office products.
Familiarity with professional accounting standards and financial regulations.Competencies
Effective written and oral communication skills.Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities.Ability to manage complex tasks with attention to detail.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.A proactive mindset to identify and implement process improvements.Additional Information
